How to De-stress during the Holidays!

Filed under: Mom Life · December 13, 2018

I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off for quite sometime now (#momof3) but with the holidays here it has been multiplied times 5. I was ripping and running and actually making myself sick. I started feeling super irritated, anxious, tired and quite frankly just bothered. My husband and I went to dinner with one of our favorite couples and the wife expressed to me how hard it was for her when their kids were young. She said that she was always moody and tired and didn’t want to be bothered half of the time. Now that they are all grown up she can relax a little and do what she wants to do. The fun never stops when you play at betflix. (When the grandkids aren’t around lol) I know you Mommas can relate!

After we dropped them off at their hotel, I realized that I had a gift card to the Mandarin Oriental Spa from Mother’s Day that I had not used. It was just sitting in my wallet for like 5 months. That is how hectic things have been. As soon as I woke up on Monday morning I called the Spa and set up my appointment for the next day. I knew that if I pushed it to the following week something would come up and I would have to postpone it cause thats what moms do. Am I right?

I made my appointment during school hours of course. I planned the day perfectly. If I dropped the kids off at 8:30, I could be to the Spa by 9:30 and be out by 1:30. Well things were going as planned when I got a call from my daughter begging me to bring her timeline that she left in the office. So my relaxing day turned into rushing from one school to another then sitting in traffic to get to Brickell. But, once I arrived at the hotel at 9:45 the ambiance took over and I felt a sense of peace all over me. This was my day and for the next 5 hours I was going to chill. Yes, I was there for 5 hours. I had a 90 minute massage, facials winnipeg, manicure and pedicure and it was amazing. The hotel staff made my day. So if you are a little burnt out and looking for a little me time here are a few ideas to destress during the holidays. Cause if Momma ain’t happy, nobody is happy. You can find a variety of options at a 24/7 dispensary toronto to help you unwind and enjoy some well-deserved me time.

10 Ways to De-stress

  1. Spa Day
  2. 24 hour Staycation at your favorite hotel
  3. Dinner for 1 at your favorite restaurant
  4. Get a massage or relax with some fun games on mrbetcanada.ca
  5. Buy yourself something that you usually wouldn’t buy (Tom Ford, lol)
  6. Go for a long walk
  7. Candle lit bubble bath
  8. Go to a yoga/meditation class
  9. Dance
  10. Volunteer

December Lovin’

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! But it is also one of the most overwhelming times. The school events, office parties, deadlines, sports tournaments, shopping and trying to just stay calm.  While you are out and about prepping and celebrating the season, don’t forget to treat yourself as well.  Here are some of my favorite things this month. I think that you deserve to indulge in some goodies for YOU too!

Brand I am Loving: AG Denim. These jeans fit amazing. I love the stretch and shhhh don’t tell anyone I have like 5 pairs. It’s a splurge but they last for years. Unless you gain or lose weight. Side note I have done both over the past two years so that explains why I have so many. LOL! Nordstrom or Bloomies keeps them in stock.

My new make up fave is Becca Skin Love weightless blur foundation. This stuff is magic. I was so hesitant about trying a new foundation after using the same one for 6 years but I am hooked. My skin looks better with and without the makeup because it is rich in vitamin C, ginger and avocado. Go get some at Sephora!

If you are always on the go like me then yes you know why my go to shoes are the Adidas Boost. These sneakers are light, comfy and perfect for working out or running errands. I usually get about 10,000 steps a day just from chasing these kids, so comfort is my main priority. Try any Adidas Store or Adidas.com

My must have accessory is a black purse. Lately, I am always carrying my Marc Jacobs backpack. With three kids and all of our essentials (sanitizer, headphones, Tylenol, water bottles, bandaids) …. well you get it. I just throw it in the bag and keep it moving. Any fine department store carries Marc Jacobs but I got mine at Nordstrom.com

I am a social media junkie. My Instagram Crush is @DaynaBolden! This momma is fly, chic, and fabulous. She’s a lifestyle blogger based out of Baltimore, Maryland but she is always traveling around the world. I am like living through her right now. She’s a true supermom who does it all but believes that teamwork makes the dream work. I literally love everything about her but the best thing is that she keeps it real. (And she thrifts!) By the way,  please follow me too @SportyMommas. So there you have it. I hope that you treat yourself and have a safe holiday season.

Holiday Fashion on a Budget

The holidays are here and I am here for it. I love to see all of the decorations and lights all around Miami. I am sure most of you do too that’s why the malls are already so crowded. LOL! What’s not to love about Christmas in Miami? Okay it will be a lot warmer than everywhere else but hey we can wear sandals and strapless dresses all year round.

With the holiday hustle comes all of the parties, fundraisers and dinners out with friends. How many holiday parties do you have lined up? If you are looking for something to wear and tired of over spending, Rent the Runway might be the best kept secret for fashionistas. A few years ago a friend told me about RTR and I was like hmmm I don’t want to share clothes with anyone. I like to shop and look at it hanging up in my closet. But last month when I realized that I had 3 events back to back and nothing to wear, I thought that I would give it a try.

It was super easy to sign up. They have a few different rental options too. You can do a one time rental. This is perfect for weddings or formal affairs that you don’t want to buy a dress for. RTR update is when you just want a few pieces to play around with during the month. My favorite,  RTR unlimited is a revolving closet that you can swap out as much as you want through out the month. Your first month is only $99.  What isn’t so easy is picking out only four items with so much inventory to choose from. I must share that in my first order I got my sizes all wrong so I highly recommend that you read the comments about sizing options.

So if you are looking for a holiday wardrobe and don’t want to break the bank, give Rent the Runway a try. Not only do they have designer apparel, they also have nice handbags, accessories and outerwear. I am at the end of my first month and let me tell you it is addictive! I already wanted to buy all 4 pieces but I promised to be strong as I ran back to the UPS store to ship off my order! Happy Shopping or should I say renting! Click here for a special discount!

Thankful, Grateful, Blessed

Hey Mommas!!! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I am so grateful for those of you that are supporting me on this Momprenuer journey. We all know that motherhood isn’t easy and it is great to have our #momsquad cheering us on along the way. As we approach the holiday season it is my prayer that love, light, and peace surrounds you and your loved ones. I had the privilege to attend the Guardian Angels fundraiser on Friday and let me tell you it is a blessing to be healthy, to have healthy children and good healthcare. The Guardian Angels is part of the Jackson Health Foundation that services children and families in need. Some need emergency surgery, treatment or even long term care. This program makes it a little easier for these families in need. Last year I took the leap and became a Guardian Angel. You can learn more at jacksonhealthfoundation.org. In the spirit of Thanksgiving,  I decided to share my favorite Thanksgiving quotes with you today. Hope you enjoy them. Everyone loved this yellow dress so I thought it would be fun to share the details below.

“Gratitude turns what we have into enough”

“It is not happy people who are thankful, it is thankful people who are happy”

“In everything give thanks”

10 Things you might not…..

Filed under: Mom Life · November 19, 2018

Happy Monday Mommas! I hope that you all had an amazing weekend. I thought it would be fun to share 10 things that you probably don’t know about me. I mean who is this Sporty Momma? Ok here we go…

  1. I am an over thinker.
  2. Even though I have a southern accent (this was pointed out to me in high school, thanks Christina), I was born and raised in Miami, FL.
  3. I love seafood. I can live off of shrimp and salmon and water.
  4. I used to be on a dance drill team called Gablettes in high school.
  5. Even though I have had a t-shirt line for 8 years, I hate selling. So please buy a tee!
  6. If I could live any place in the world it would be Hawaii.
  7. My dream job is to work in television one day.
  8. I can watch the movie Brown Sugar over and over and over again.
  9. My current musical obsession is Ella Mai.
  10. I have loved being on both sides of the camera since I was 10 years old. I still have pictures in the old disposable Kodak cameras under my bed at my mom’s house. LOL! But I guess that may explain my love for IG. Sidebar follow me @SportyMommas

And there you have it. A little more insight on who I am and what I love. Did any of these surprise you? I hope that you have a fabulous week.

How I Styled My Definition Tee

Hey Sporty Mommas and friends!!! I have been getting some great feedback on the Definition of a Sporty Mommas tee, but some ladies asked how to style it!!! So here is a great example. On Saturday I had a super busy day as usual. The kids had basketball practice at the same time and I was trying to get to the “Werk it Moms” Momprenuer breakfast in the Gables. Yes all three things were happening at the same time. #busymomma

So I grabbed my “limited edition” metallic gold definition tee, my favorite camo jacket, black Nike sneakers and dashed out the door. One thing about graphic tees is they go with just about anything. Jeans, skirts, shorts, heels, flats or sneakers you can pair it with whatever makes you feel fabulous! I went with black on black because the gold would pop a little more. I was cute and so comfy that I wore the same outfit to the Miami Heat game later that night.

The best advice is to be comfortable. That is why I created this line. Busy mommas have enough on their plate and often don’t have time to get themselves all dolled up everyday. Sporty Mommas tees are fun, cute, comfy and make looking fabulous easy.  Add your favorite handbag and a pop of color (I love red lipstick but I went with a frosted orange) and just rock it!!!! Take advantage of our free shipping going on all month with code BOSSMOM at checkout. Don’t forget to tag #sportymommas to be featured on our page.

Monday Message

Filed under: Mom Life · November 5, 2018

I was driving down the street today and saw an old neighbor. I see her here and there but today something spoke to me as I looked at her face. She didn’t look the same. Maybe she was having a rough morning or something was weighing her down but it just made me think. There is so much craziness going on around the world and I have to admit myself that it gets discouraging sometimes but if we push through the hard times and help uplift one another we will be just fine. I just want YOU to know that you are not alone. A lot of people go through things that test their spirit and try to break them. There are people all around you going through things that others have no idea about. But know that it is though the storm we are growing stronger and able to get to the other side and share our stories with others. When I spoke to my therapist she always said keep going. Keep moving. Keep doing the things that bring you joy. Stay busy, exercise, do the things that you love and keep going. As moms we often hide our emotions and try to keep it all together but it is ok. Let it out. Sending you love and light.

Fashionista Friday: Definition of a Sporty Momma

Everyone always asks me what is Sporty Mommas! Most of you guys that have been following me for years know that it is my passion. But you may not know where it came from. When my husband retired earlier than we expected our world quickly changed. We went from a routine life full of travels using our private jet card from Jettly, games, unpacking and packing to what’s next. He was in a tough place and honestly so was I. So I began journaling and creating stuff. LIV Jewelers jewelry, t-shirts, whatever I could find from Michael’s… I was experimenting. Then one night I dreamt of my grandma and I was reminded of her strength during well everything. No matter how tough the situation was she put on that wig, her favorite outfit and that red lipstick. Do ya’ll know what I’m talking about? She and so many women in my life were Sporty Mommas.  Our moms, grandmas, aunts, godmothers, teachers. They were hardworking, no nonsense, stylish, dedicated, sophisticated mommas that simply got shit done!!!! The definition of a Sporty Momma shirt sums it all up. It is for all of you Supermoms that handle your business, run businesses, raise kids, cook, clean, shop, care for others, volunteer and love to look good while doing it. If your business needs professional uniforms, contact an expert from Total Image Group for assistance. You may also check out these company polos you’ll surely love.

We are Sporty Mommas! Did you know that you can take $5 off your Definition of a Sporty Momma tee with code BOSSMOM?

Monster Splash

Filed under: Mom Life · October 26, 2018

The Stew Crew was so thrilled when I told them that we would be spending the day at the Miami Seaquarium. They called up their BFF’s and planned the perfect “No School” play date. We loaded up the Sporty Momma Bus and headed to Key Biscayne!!!

I made sure that I was cute and comfy for this adventure with 4 kiddos. The weather was a bit warm but picture perfect for a day full of outdoor fun.  We made sure to pack our water and sunscreen. In the world of skincare, especially post-pandemic, as we embrace outdoor activities and summer holidays, the debate on sun protection takes center stage. Understanding the reasons to apply sunscreen without moisturizer becomes crucial. While sunscreen is fundamentally designed to shield the skin from harmful UV rays, not all sunscreens are created equal. Some formulations are enriched with emollients and humectants, doubling as moisturizers. This dual function addresses the need for hydration while offering protection, simplifying your skincare routine without compromising on skin health. I highly recommend that you wear good sneakers. We met up with our friends Mama’s Mission and headed into the park for a day of fun.

The Monster Splash at Miami Seaquarium is a fun, family event featuring Halloween themed shows, trick-or-treating, rides and inflatables! Friendly ghosts and goblins will surprise your kids as they stroll through the park.  My crew loved the inflatable area, dance party playing the paint color song and paint your own pumpkin station. Flipper even joined in on the dance party fun.

We enjoyed watching “Finding Hemo”, the interactive stations and walking through the aquarium. My favorite stop at the Miami Seaquarium and the Zoo is always at the flamingo exhibit. I am always amazed with how beautiful they are. Ok and I love pink lol!

The popular Monster Splash Halloween Bash is here this weekend only Friday – Sunday October 26, 27 & 28th. Don’t miss out on Flipper’s dance party, ‘create a scarecrow’ activities, the pumpkin patch and much more!

It was a blast!!! You definitely don’t want to miss out on this spook-tacular event! Use our special promo code mommas to unlock a special discount just for Sporty Mommas and friends. For more information on Monster Splash, Click Here.

Adults $46.99 + Tax
Child (ages 3-9) $36.99 + Tax

Fall Lovin’

Filed under: Mom Life · October 22, 2018

Hey Sporty Mommas! Thank you guys for all of the positive feedback on my latest photo shoot. It was so much fun and liberating. If you have never had professional hair and makeup done for a photo shoot besides your wedding day, I highly recommend that you do so ASAP. I try to book a session every few years just for me. It is nice to get all dolled up every now and then. It reminds them hey momma still got it going on too. So Fall is in full swing and I am loving it. I am still waiting for the temperature to drop a little more so I can pull out the sweater dresses but hey at least it is not 100 degrees anymore.  I thought that it would be fun to share what I am loving right now.

1. Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks; I can’t believe that I never tried one before this season. Lately, I have been substituting whole milk with almond milk and it still tastes great.

2. Fenty Madamn is my favorite lipstick. I wear it almost everyday. It pops so much all you need is a little foundation, mascara  and this lip color and go.

3. Post Malone is on my playlist. I know its kinda ratchet but I love tracks 1-4. I usually play it when I am warming up on the treadmill.

4. Favorite Fall Activity: Tennis I haven’t played in over a year but now that the temperature is a little cooler, I finally got back on the court. I highly recommend playing with friends, it makes it so much more fun.

5.  Ozark is on my Netflix playlist. I have just started Season 1 and boy I was not ready for it. It kinda reminds me of Power. I still can’t wait for Season 2 of Big Little Lies though.

So….. that is what I am up to this Fall. What are you loving right now?

Sharonda
