Fall Flavors: Fruit Tart Recipe

Filed under: Mom Life · October 4, 2021

#BJsWholesalePartner Hey guys! Treat your family to this delicious dessert featuring fresh berries and ingredients from your local @BJsWholesale. BJ’s Wholesale Club is my one-stop shop for all my favorite recipe ingredients and essentials! I love this recipe for entertaining friends and family during the fall. It is light, fresh, and very tasty. You can also switch it up by adding your favorite seasonal fruits and toppings. Or perhaps substitute the pie crust with granola for a healthier crust option.

Shop at BJ’s using one of their many convenient shopping options, including curbside pickup, in-club pickup, or same-day delivery.

Seasonal Fruit Tart

1/2 cup Heavy Whipping Cream

4 ounces Wellsley Farms Cream Cheese

1 teaspoon Wellsley Farms Vanilla

2 tbs. Wellsley Farms Sugar

Pie crust

Seasonal fruit

Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries

Whipped cream

Mint leaf

Directions

  1. Combine heavy whipping cream, 2 tablespoons of sugar, cream cheese and 1 teaspoon of vanilla to a mixing bowl. Using either an electric hand mixer or wire whisk, whip the cream until it forms still peaks. Whip for an additional 30 seconds to a minute to make the cream firm. Set in the fridge covered until ready to assemble the tarts.
  2. To prepare the fruit blend, wash the fruit and dry the berries gently. Slice the strawberries into bite sized pieces. If the berries are not sweet enough you can add a little sugar. Allow the berries to sit for about 30 minutes. Taste for sweetness and add additional sugar if needed. Allow the berries to sit for at least anther 15 minutes if additional sugar is added.
  3. To assemble the tartlets spread a generous serving of the cream filling on the tart shell. Top with scoops of the berries, draining off any excess liquid as it may ruin the cream filling. Add whipped cream and mint leaf to garnish. Serve immediately.

South Florida Mom Bloggers Meetup

Filed under: Mom Life · September 22, 2021

If you guys have been following along then you know that I am the new Chapter Officer of the South Florida Mom Bloggers. This is a role that I do not take likely. I have always loved inspiring, connecting and working with other moms. That is part of the mission of Sporty Mommas so when this role was presented to me it was a natural fit. After months of anticipation, we were finally able to reconnect, making it the perfect occasion to elevate the gathering with a top-notch bartending service Greensboro.

The September South Florida Mom Bloggers meetup was a huge success and I could not have been more pleased or inspired from the event. Whenever you plan an event you have a vision of how you want it to be. However, you never really know what is going to happen. This event was perfect from the venue, beautifully curated charcuterie boards, cocktails and the amazing women who came out. For future events, considering Singapore executive protection can ensure everything runs smoothly and securely, adding an extra layer of professionalism and safety. And when you’re looking for a new way to entertain at home, consider booking a session with Clifton Cocktail Club. They bring the art of cocktail making to your living room, where you can learn to make your favorite drinks in a private and comfortable setting. Shannon Allen, owner of Grown Miami, really laid out the perfect brunch for us.

Grown Miami

Working with brands in 2021 was our topic and boy was it a good one. Jasmine from (@Adventuresoflawyermom) and Joceline from (@araadstory) along with myself discussed the process of working with brands, building your network, collaborating and goal setting. It was a great afternoon full of inspiration and laughter. Stay tuned for our next meetup that is scheduled for October 16th.

Our event was captured by my favorite photographer and friend Priscilla Gomez from @purezealphotography. She did an amazing job catching every detail and the contagious energy that filled the air. It was so much fun and set the tone for an amazing rest of the year. Priscilla is available for all types of photoshoots from wedding, maternity, holidays to influencer branding. You may also consider hiring Debbie Eko Photography, a wedding photographer Richmond. If you’re looking for a maternity photographer Sacramento, call Tsaiti Babella Photography to help you.

Crockpot Macaroni Pie with Florida Milk

Filed under: Mom Life · September 7, 2021

School is back in full swing and that means that most of us are back on the go and back in the kitchen. From preparing breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner to washing dishes…. the kitchen is my new office. I have found a new love for my crockpot this year. It’s great to just  add ingredients and go instead of standing up in the kitchen for hours.  Check out my crockpot macaroni pie. Not to mention, Florida Milk makes all the difference.

So, if you are like me then you are probably looking for new recipe ideas. I am always trying to find  creative ways to get the kids their nutrients. I found this great recipe for Crockpot Macaroni Pie using  2 cups of Florida Milk. This dish is great and will leave your house  smelling like Sunday dinner. It’s rich, creamy and can be served as an entree or a side. Now traditional Mac and Cheese can take a long time and a lot of dirty dishes. You have to  cook the pasta in one pot, the cheese sauce in another and not to mention all of those  measuring cups and utensils. Now you just combine all of the ingredients in the crockpot,  cover and go about the rest of your day. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Ingredients:

Dried Elbow Macaroni (3 cups)

Evaporated Milk (12oz)

Fresh Whole Milk (2 1/2 cups)

Sharp Cheddar Cheese (8oz)

Mild Cheddar Cheese (8oz)

Butter (1/2 cup, melted)

Paprika (1/2 teaspoon)

Breadcrumbs (optional)

Eggs (3 egg yolks)

Salt (1/2 teaspoon)

Pepper (1/2 teaspoon)

Directions:

1. Use a 4-quart or 6-quart crockpot. Add the uncooked  macaroni, evaporated milk, whole milk, butter, egg yolks, salt  and pepper.

2. Stir in grated cheese, save some for the topping. Mix well.

3. Sprinkle the rest of the cheese and paprika on top. Cover and  cook on low for 3 hours.

4. Add breadcrumbs on top. (Optional)

Happy Cooking,

Sharonda

Babbleboxx: Fall Health and Wellness Box

Filed under: Mom Life · September 2, 2021

This post is sponsored by BabbleBoxx.

It’s almost fall y’all! This is my favorite time of the year and I love trying new wellness products to kick up my immune system. Keeping vision health in check is just as important, which is why many trust Omaha Eye for expert care and advanced eye treatments this season. It is so important to nurture our bodies, form good habits such as regular dental visits on All On 4 Brisbane, and make our health a priority as you can get advance treatments like stem cell proliferation and more. The Babbleboxx Fall Health and Wellness box is packed with so many goodies. They always feature the best products to try so let’s uncover what’s inside the Fall 2021 Health and Wellness box.

Bragg is the leader in the Apple Cider Vinegar industry. They have been around since 1912. ACV is a natural prebiotic that is made from fresh pressed, certified apples that are grown in the U.S. Apple cider vinegar helps control your appetite and manage weight gain. It also helps maintain healthy blood sugar and cholesterol levels. It’s great to add in recipes or create your own salad dressing. Use code BABBLE10 at bragg.com to get 10% off your purchase.

Have you heard of Vichy? Vichy is the #1 anti-aging brand in European pharmacies. It is also the #3 skincare brand recommended by dermatologists worldwide. I love that all of their products are powered by their 15 mineral-rich Vichy Volcanic water. The Mineral 89 Prebiotic recovery and defense concentrate is a prebiotic serum that is packed with ingredients to help fight the visible signs of aging. Stress has a damaging effect on the skin barrier and that can result in visible signs like dryness, redness, dullness and fine lines. Head over to vichyusa to learn more

Hungry yet? Check out these delicious fully prepared-plant based meals from Veestro. Veestro is a meal delivery service that ships vegan meals right to your door. These meals are healthy, tasty and full of the good stuff. My favorite meal so far is the impossible lasagna. It is so so good. Save up to $120 off your first 4 shipments with code Babblebox. Offer expires  on 10/31/21.

Tree Hut products always brings me back to that spa feeling. I love the Margarita Citron Sugar Scrub. This lime enriched scrub is packed with Vitamin C. The agave helps soothe and hydrate your skin while the shea butter deeply moisturizes and promotes elasticity. It really is a great exfoliant and perfect for using from head to toe. Tree Hut uses high quality ingredients that will leave your skin feeling soft, smooth and refreshed. Treat yourself and head over to Ulta!

Like most busy moms I am always on the go. I am so thankful for On-The-Go Hydration from HALO. HALO is a low calorie low sugar hydration electrolyte powder that promotes healthy hydration. It helps replenish what you’ve lost through a tough workout. The HALO formula includes organic lemon juice, natural electrolytes, trace minerals, zinc, magnesium B vitamins and vitamin C. Best of all there’s only 15 calories per stick.  Experience complete hydration and shop HALOhydration.com use code HALO20 for 20%off your purchase.

If your lips are in need of a little TLC then check out this lip balm from Flexitol. Flexitol products are made with clinically proven and nourishing ingredients like lanolin, aloe and vitamin E. This unique three way action exfoliates, hydrates and alleviates discomfort. So say goodbye to chapped lips with this moisturizing lip balm. I like to put it on a few minutes before I apply my lipstick.

I hope that you add a few of these great items to your Fall shopping cart!

Happy Shopping,

Black Business Month

Filed under: Mom Life · August 21, 2021

August is National Black Business Month and it is a great time to shop local black-owned businesses.  National Black Business Month was created in 2004 by John William Templeton and Frederick E. Jordan Sr. to increase support, business development, recognition, and sales in black-owned businesses. This initiative has sparked change and national recognition for the importance of small businesses in our communities. Without small businesses, our communities are unable to thrive and serve on a local level. “It’s important that we take this time not just to promote Black Business Month, but support Black businesses,” said Ronald Busby, president and CEO of the U.S. Black Chamber of Commerce. To extend your support and explore business opportunities, you might also consider resources from Acclime China.

Ways to Support Black-Owned Businesses in Your Community

  1. Reach out to businesses and offer your expertise, support, or training.

2. Pledge to shop a black business once a week for the month of August.

3. Look up local black business groups and associations that support the growth of black-owned businesses and consider making a donation. For example, the National Black Chamber of Commerce has many local chapters across the U.S.

Summer Recap

Filed under: Mom Life · August 13, 2021

Happy Friday y’all! I cannot believe that the summer is almost over! Where did the time go? I remember back in May while doing an interview I said that the summertime was usually slow for business but boy was I wrong. Summer 2021 has been lit! From multiple blog campaigns to business meetings and being a panelist at a few events, this has definitely been my busiest summer yet. A big shoutout to Themarketingheaven.com for helping elevate our online presence, making this season even more successful!

We kicked off the summer with a trip to Orlando. The kids were so excited to get out of the house after 15 months of not traveling. After searching for the perfect vacation rental we found a cute house in the Reunion Resort! It had 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms a theater room, pool and arcade games. It was the perfect way to start summer.

Next was the Ft. Lauderdale Fashion Week Blogger Brunch. I was honored to be one of the panelist where we shared our tips and stories of what it is really like to be an influencer these days. Truth be told, we are all influencers. We influence the people around us on a daily basis. It was so nice to get out and see some of my blogger friends in person.

In July, I became the chapter leader of the South Florida Mom Bloggers. This is a group of local moms looking for community, blog support and opportunities to grow their brands. I am so excited to be leadings this amazing network of women. Please save the date, September 18th for our first meetup.

As I embrace the new responsibility of leading the vibrant South Florida Mom Bloggers, I’m reminded of the importance of community safety, a service seamlessly provided by fire watch security in Lauderdale by the Sea. My friend, an adept fire watch guard, embodies the same spirit of leadership and support within his profession, ensuring the safety and growth of local businesses. His work, though different in nature, parallels my own efforts to foster a nurturing environment where ambition and welfare go hand in hand.

South Florida Mom Bloggers

In August, we attended the Black Miami Moms family beach day. This event was created by Jazmine from Adventures of a Lawyer Mom. Several families came out and enjoyed a few hours socializing and watching the kids play. It was so much fun, and I am looking forward to the next family day. As an injury lawyer, I appreciate community events that bring families together and create positive experiences. If your kids love playing in public playgrounds, you may inquire if Playground safety inspections are done regularly to help avoid accidents or injuries. Injured in Delray Beach, FL? The personal injury lawyers from Kogan & DiSalvo law firm can help.

My kids were home from school since May 19th and even though I am happy to get them back on a schedule, I already miss having them home all day. The house is so quiet and I am learning how to work from home without kids. It has been an interesting year and I am a little anxious with Covid running rampant. I pray that you all have a safe and happy school year.

Cheers,

Sharonda

The summer is officially over for the Stew Crew! And it was a busy one. The younger two spent the last week at a school camp in Georgia and had a blast. The oldest and I spent way too much money getting the dorm room together. But the bonding was immeasurable!
