Champagne Jello Shots

If you are staying in this New Years Eve like me then it is time to get our menus together. I know I will have my favorite assorted cupcakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes, a frozen lasagna (Ana Capris) lol, garlic bread and some Sparkling Apple Cider for the kiddos to ring in the new year. I have been searching Pinterest for the perfect festive drink and these jello shots jumped off the page like try me ASAP! I can’t wait to try them on Monday night with Le Marc Prosecco.  Check out the recipe for Champagne Jello Squares via the celebrationsathomeblog.com she has some great ideas. Cheers to 2019!!!!! And thank God for Pinterest.

CHAMPAGNE JELLO SQUARES RECIPE

  • 1 box plain gelatin {4 packets} + 2 cups water
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups Brut sparkling wine, Champagne, Cava, or Prosecco
  • 1 cup club soda
  • 3 Tablespoons Chambord liqueur
  • Package of fresh strawberries

Prepare gelatin according to package directions, using the 2 cups of water. Pour mixture into a mixing bowl, over sugar, stirring to dissolve sugar.

Let cool until warm to touch, and add sparkling wine, club soda, and liqueur; stir to combine.

Pour mixture into an 11 x 13 inch baking dish. Cover and refrigerate for several hours or over night, until set.

Once set, cut jello into bite-sized squares and serve. Add strawberries to rim of glass.

TIP: Use a small spatula to help lift jello off the bottom of the baking dish, gently.

How to De-stress during the Holidays!

Filed under: Mom Life · December 13, 2018

I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off for quite sometime now (#momof3) but with the holidays here it has been multiplied times 5. I was ripping and running and actually making myself sick. I started feeling super irritated, anxious, tired and quite frankly just bothered. My husband and I went to dinner with one of our favorite couples and the wife expressed to me how hard it was for her when their kids were young. She said that she was always moody and tired and didn’t want to be bothered half of the time. Now that they are all grown up she can relax a little and do what she wants to do. (When the grandkids aren’t around lol) I know you Mommas can relate!

After we dropped them off at their hotel, I realized that I had a gift card to the Mandarin Oriental Spa from Mother’s Day that I had not used. It was just sitting in my wallet for like 5 months. That is how hectic things have been. As soon as I woke up on Monday morning I called the Spa and set up my appointment for the next day. I knew that if I pushed it to the following week something would come up and I would have to postpone it cause thats what moms do. Am I right?

I made my appointment during school hours of course. I planned the day perfectly. If I dropped the kids off at 8:30, I could be to the Spa by 9:30 and be out by 1:30. Well things were going as planned when I got a call from my daughter begging me to bring her timeline that she left in the office. So my relaxing day turned into rushing from one school to another then sitting in traffic to get to Brickell. But, once I arrived at the hotel at 9:45 the ambiance took over and I felt a sense of peace all over me. This was my day and for the next 5 hours I was going to chill. Yes, I was there for 5 hours. I had a 90 minute massage, facials winnipeg, manicure and pedicure and it was amazing. The hotel staff made my day. So if you are a little burnt out and looking for a little me time here are a few ideas to destress during the holidays. Cause if Momma ain’t happy, nobody is happy. You can find a variety of options at a 24/7 dispensary toronto to help you unwind and enjoy some well-deserved me time.

10 Ways to De-stress

  1. Spa Day
  2. 24 hour Staycation at your favorite hotel
  3. Dinner for 1 at your favorite restaurant
  4. Get a massage or relax with some fun games on mrbetcanada.ca
  5. Buy yourself something that you usually wouldn’t buy (Tom Ford, lol)
  6. Go for a long walk
  7. Candle lit bubble bath
  8. Go to a yoga/meditation class
  9. Dance
  10. Volunteer

10 Things you might not…..

Filed under: Mom Life · November 19, 2018

Happy Monday Mommas! I hope that you all had an amazing weekend. I thought it would be fun to share 10 things that you probably don’t know about me. I mean who is this Sporty Momma? Ok here we go…

  1. I am an over thinker.
  2. Even though I have a southern accent (this was pointed out to me in high school, thanks Christina), I was born and raised in Miami, FL.
  3. I love seafood. I can live off of shrimp and salmon and water.
  4. I used to be on a dance drill team called Gablettes in high school.
  5. Even though I have had a t-shirt line for 8 years, I hate selling. So please buy a tee!
  6. If I could live any place in the world it would be Hawaii.
  7. My dream job is to work in television one day.
  8. I can watch the movie Brown Sugar over and over and over again.
  9. My current musical obsession is Ella Mai.
  10. I have loved being on both sides of the camera since I was 10 years old. I still have pictures in the old disposable Kodak cameras under my bed at my mom’s house. LOL! But I guess that may explain my love for IG. Sidebar follow me @SportyMommas

And there you have it. A little more insight on who I am and what I love. Did any of these surprise you? I hope that you have a fabulous week.

XO,

Sharonda

Monday Message

Filed under: Mom Life · November 5, 2018

I was driving down the street today and saw an old neighbor. I see her here and there but today something spoke to me as I looked at her face. She didn’t look the same. Maybe she was having a rough morning or something was weighing her down but it just made me think. There is so much craziness going on around the world and I have to admit myself that it gets discouraging sometimes but if we push through the hard times and help uplift one another we will be just fine. I just want YOU to know that you are not alone. A lot of people go through things that test their spirit and try to break them. There are people all around you going through things that others have no idea about. But know that it is though the storm we are growing stronger and able to get to the other side and share our stories with others. When I spoke to my therapist she always said keep going. Keep moving. Keep doing the things that bring you joy. Stay busy, exercise, do the things that you love and keep going. As moms we often hide our emotions and try to keep it all together but it is ok. Let it out. Sending you love and light.

Monster Splash

Filed under: Mom Life · October 26, 2018

The Stew Crew was so thrilled when I told them that we would be spending the day at the Miami Seaquarium. They called up their BFF’s and planned the perfect “No School” play date. We loaded up the Sporty Momma Bus and headed to Key Biscayne!!!

I made sure that I was cute and comfy for this adventure with 4 kiddos. The weather was a bit warm but picture perfect for a day full of outdoor fun.  We made sure to pack our water and sunscreen. In the world of skincare, especially post-pandemic, as we embrace outdoor activities and summer holidays, the debate on sun protection takes center stage. Understanding the reasons to apply sunscreen without moisturizer becomes crucial. While sunscreen is fundamentally designed to shield the skin from harmful UV rays, not all sunscreens are created equal. Some formulations are enriched with emollients and humectants, doubling as moisturizers. This dual function addresses the need for hydration while offering protection, simplifying your skincare routine without compromising on skin health. I highly recommend that you wear good sneakers. We met up with our friends Mama’s Mission and headed into the park for a day of fun.

The Monster Splash at Miami Seaquarium is a fun, family event featuring Halloween themed shows, trick-or-treating, rides and inflatables! Friendly ghosts and goblins will surprise your kids as they stroll through the park.  My crew loved the inflatable area, dance party playing the paint color song and paint your own pumpkin station. Flipper even joined in on the dance party fun.

We enjoyed watching “Finding Hemo”, the interactive stations and walking through the aquarium. My favorite stop at the Miami Seaquarium and the Zoo is always at the flamingo exhibit. I am always amazed with how beautiful they are. Ok and I love pink lol!

The popular Monster Splash Halloween Bash is here this weekend only Friday – Sunday October 26, 27 & 28th. Don’t miss out on Flipper’s dance party, ‘create a scarecrow’ activities, the pumpkin patch and much more!

It was a blast!!! You definitely don’t want to miss out on this spook-tacular event! Use our special promo code mommas to unlock a special discount just for Sporty Mommas and friends. For more information on Monster Splash, Click Here.

Fall Lovin’

Filed under: Mom Life · October 22, 2018

Hey Sporty Mommas! Thank you guys for all of the positive feedback on my latest photo shoot. It was so much fun and liberating. If you have never had professional hair and makeup done for a photo shoot besides your wedding day, I highly recommend that you do so ASAP. I try to book a session every few years just for me. It is nice to get all dolled up every now and then. It reminds them hey momma still got it going on too. So Fall is in full swing and I am loving it. I am still waiting for the temperature to drop a little more so I can pull out the sweater dresses but hey at least it is not 100 degrees anymore.  I thought that it would be fun to share what I am loving right now.

1. Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks; I can’t believe that I never tried one before this season. Lately, I have been substituting whole milk with almond milk and it still tastes great.

2. Fenty Madamn is my favorite lipstick. I wear it almost everyday. It pops so much all you need is a little foundation, mascara  and this lip color and go.

3. Post Malone is on my playlist. I know its kinda ratchet but I love tracks 1-4. I usually play it when I am warming up on the treadmill.

4. Favorite Fall Activity: Tennis I haven’t played in over a year but now that the temperature is a little cooler, I finally got back on the court. I highly recommend playing with friends, it makes it so much more fun.

5.  Ozark is on my Netflix playlist. I have just started Season 1 and boy I was not ready for it. It kinda reminds me of Power. I still can’t wait for Season 2 of Big Little Lies though.

So….. that is what I am up to this Fall. What are you loving right now?

Fit Fridays: Benefits of Aloe Vera

A few weeks ago I mentioned to a friend that I had been having some digestive issues. I hate taking medicine so I was searching for natural remedies. She asked me did I ever try pure Aloe Water and I told her yes I did a while ago but it didn’t cross my mind this time. She said that her whole family takes aloe vera shots daily. So I headed to the market and purchased a Half gallon of George’s Aloe.

Within a few days I felt a lot better. I also didn’t feel as sluggish but I am not sure if that was the water or result of me not feeling the discomfort of the reflux. I thought that I would share with you guys the benefits of drinking aloe that I had no clue about until last week.

Drinking aloe vera juice has become popular lately for its support of digestive and immune system health. It also helps your body absorb nutrients easier and promotes a healthy heart, healthy blood sugar levels already within the normal range, detoxification in the body and healthy weight management when paired with diet and exercise, so is great and there is also the regenerative medicine which can help you be healthy, email us to get more information about this.

Drinking aloe vera delivers a number of benefits, including support for:

  • Digestive system
  • Immune system
  • Joints and muscles
  • Overall wellness
  • Skin and hair
  • Healthy weight management
  • And more!

Be sure to buy organic pure aloe vera juice. If you don’t like the taste there are tons of bottled aloe vera juices on the market like Alo and Healthy Life Aloe. I take 2 oz of George’s pure aloe vera water in the morning and 2 oz in the evening. Anything over 4 oz daily may result in a laxative effect. You can also get the benefits of Aloe Vera in a capsule! Cheers to good health!

Sharonda

Q4: AKA The busiest time of the year

Filed under: Mom Life · October 8, 2018

As I rushed into the Doggie Groomer’s to pick up the dogs, a friend of mine drove by. We stopped and spoke for a quick second and promised to catch up later on in the week. When I looked at the calendar to see when we could hang out it hit me, the end of the year grind is here. All of the fundraisers, kid’s parties,  school activities, trunk shows and holidays are here.

This is usually the busiest time for Sporty Mommas apparel. I usually do a few events and try to make up for the summer slump.  And this year’s slump was serious. I find myself constantly running around getting stuff done for everyone but me. I am learning to say no, but it seems like I am just going, going, going. Can you relate?

I am excited to participate in the first Miami Bloggers flea market this Saturday, October 13th, at the Coconut Grove Women’s Club. It’s going to be nice to clean out my closet, make some extra cash, and meet some other fabulous Miami bloggers. Well, I am off to the post office to ship out some shirts. Have a fabulous week! Be sure to order your definition of a Sporty Momma tee! You may also do the storage unit cleanouts to ensure that everything is neat and organized.

XO,

Sharonda

This week was bananas. No crazy is a better word. I will just start off saying that after 9 hours of sleep, I am still exhausted from the hustle and bustle of this past week. Let’s see there was a teacher planning day on Monday so it should have been easier cause its a short week but not with 3 kids going to separate schools.

If you are following my Instagram stories you know I spend most of my days in the car. That’s where most of my selfies take place. In my car. I am getting used to it again but it is quite stressful trying to get everyone where they need to be, get my work done, and you know all that other mom life stuff. I somehow managed to cook two days in a row this week and pick up snacks for the volleyball team lol. Oh and I forgot to mention that my mother in law had to go to the ER, have an unexpected surgery and spent the whole week in the hospital. Yep, it was one if those weeks.

I would say it was still quite a success.  I attended three meetings, two volleyball games, picked out furniture for my decorating project and worked out 3 days this week. Everyone got their homework done, had enough sleep, didn’t miss a meal and I didn’t hurt anybody lol. Whewww….so how was your week?

Tea Party, Anyone?

Filed under: Mom Life · September 6, 2018

My mom squad loves to celebrate our birthdays over lunch, drinks, laughs and gifts of course.  We are always trying out new restaurants and spas around Miami and last week we headed to Serendip-a-tea in Kendall. Serendip-a-tea is a super cute tea house full of trendy art and yes, amazing teas. I was pleasantly surprised with the menu and all of the varieties of teas and delicious treats. Iliana, one of the founders explained the menu and gave us a mini lesson on teas. Besides the wonderful atmosphere, the prices are very reasonable. We had a great time catching up from the summer and meeting the newest addition to the squad. (Baby Dash) If you are looking for a cute place to host an event, a meeting, celebrate a birthday or simply want to try a chic place, stop by Serendip-a-tea!
