Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October was full of amazing events in South Florida. I had the chance to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month at some cool events this year. From the Baptist Health Cancer Survivor tribute to shopping, Instagram Live and Beach yoga, it was a month full of education, sharing and networking.

First, the Baptist Health Kickoff took place at the Penthouse near the Wharf Miami. We gathered in honor of five amazing breast cancer survivors and celebrated their wins. It was great to see a lot of my mom blogger friends in person. We took lots of pictures, nibbled, laughed and even cried. Listening to the survivors stories was so powerful. It was a great way to start off the month.

Black Women and Breast Cancer

Next, I was part of the IG Live Black Women and Breast Cancer panel discussion. The panel consisted of a Black oncologist, a Breast Cancer survivor, myself and a former television news anchor. I learned so many interesting facts about Black Women and Breast Cancer like Black Women have a 40 % less chance of surviving breast cancer and are less likely to receive the proper medical care due to lack of insurance. Obesity, heart disease and not breastfeeding can also be factors.

On Saturday October 22nd, the South Florida Bloggers and South Florida Mom Bloggers came together for the second annual Breast Cancer Awareness Beach Yoga event at Crandon Beach. Our morning was full of sunshine, good vibes and a 30 minute yoga flow. This year we were led once again by Tiffany Zakka from SWOGA. It was so nice to see all of the beautiful women come out in their pink. A very special thank you to our sponsor Baptist Health for all that they do in our South Florida communities.

Hello Fall: My Favorites for Fall 2022

Fall is finally here and I am so excited y’all! I have already had my share of pumpkin bread and pumpkin spiced lattes but I had to share with you all some of my other fall favorites. This season is a great time to try something new like a new hair color or nail design…maybe even try a new hobby. Another reason why I love fall is that we re getting closer and closer to Christmas. This Jumpsuit below is under $50 from Fashion Nova! Don’t sleep on Fashion Nova ya’ll. They have some great pieces and most of them are under $50. I love the utility style and baggy fit. You can rock it with sneakers or heels depending on your mood.

I am obsessed with the Pumpkin Spice Second Slice Too Faced Palette. Every color is gorgeous and easy to blend. I recently started using an eye primer and it is a game changer. My eye color pops and honestly I don’t know what took me so long to add a primer to my makeup routine. Do you use a primer?

 

The Adidas Ultra Boost are my go to sneaker! Usually around this time of the year I have to get a new pair (or two) I love the variety of colors and the comfort of these. Every now and then I find a really funky pair. Check them out here!

Pumpkin spiced lattes are in season but have you tried one with oat milk? Due to my lactose intolerance I switched from whole milk to almond milk earlier this year but last month I gave oat milk a try and it is so tasty. Creamy like milk but without the dairy. It is my new favorite drink at Starbucks.

We are officially entering into Fall and that means pumpkin spice lattes, halloween decor and fall fashion is in full effect. I have had my share of all of them and it is only the beginning of September. Miami Dolphins Training Camp

Are you ready for some football? My son and I had a blast last weekend at the Miami Dolphins Training Camp presented by Baptist Health. There were so many fun activities and cool treats like interactive football drills, video games and those fun 360 cameras. A live DJ played all of our favorite tunes for the big 305 Celebration. I enjoyed participating in a few drills myself and let’s just say I need to practice a little more. We cooled off with pineapple popsicles and of course we had to take pictures with the famous Miami Dolphins cheerleaders.

After an hour enjoying the festivities we headed inside the stadium to watch the Dolphins up close and personal. The crowd cheered them on as they performed drills and even danced a little. It was so cool. My son was in heaven. He is a huge Dolphins fan and loves Tua and Hill. Monitor your favorite teams gameplays at 스포츠중계. The energy was electric and I think it is safe to say that Football is back!!! Season tickets are sold out for the first time ad Miami Fans are ready! Let’s Go Dolphins!!!!

The Physician Decision

Our family had a pretty amazing summer. This year we were fortunate to travel to the Bahamas in June and Mexico in July. It was so fun to explore and try new things like ATV trails, camelback strolls on the beach, and waterslides. Oh and I cannot forget all of the beautiful sunsets, late nights laughing and delicious meals.  I can’t believe that summer is coming to an end and it is time to get ready for the upcoming school year. 

Part of our back to school routine is scheduling our annual check ups with our pediatrician. We want to start off the new school year healthy, happy and strong. The kids have to get sports physicals in order to participate in school sports and I always get my annual checkups in July around my birthday. It is also a great time for those annual screenings. Staying healthy is a priority for us and we want to make sure that we are doing all that we can. 

Tips to Stay Healthy

Here are a few of my tips to stay healthy and in shape. 

  1. Drink 8 glasses of water a day.
  2. Workout a minimum of three days a week
  3. Try to get 7-9 hours of sleep each night
  4. Eat my veggies
  5. See my primary care physician annually.

Denny’s Surprise Giveaway

Last weekend I had the opportunity to work with Denny’s on a very special campaign. As soon as they reached out I was so excited. I must confess that this collaboration was a lot different from the others. I had to travel over an hour, shoot content, edit and post all in the same day. This was definitely out of my comfort zone but I was definitely up for the challenge.

I arrived at the location right on time. The hostesses were waiting for me. I placed my order for the Super Slam that is available this summer for a limited time for only $6.99. COVID-19: Reflections From a Mom of 3

As a wife and mom of three, I am always on the go. I am also always thinking about my family and the best ways to keep them healthy, happy and safe. The past few years have been very challenging but like they say, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. We are so happy to get back to concerts, ball games and playdates. I don’t think I would be as comfortable heading back out if we weren’t vaccinated. 

The COVID-19 vaccine is still our best defense against Covid-19, including the different variants. Getting vaccinated helps prevent severe illness, hospitalization, death and helps reduce the spread of the virus. With summer travel picking up we need all of the protection that we can get. 

As we pass the 2-year anniversary of COVID-19, there are still millions of Americans that have not been vaccinated. I will admit that  I had a lot of questions too but after hearing about members of our community passing away and teachers in the hospital on ventilators, I rolled up my sleeve and got vaccinated. 

The statistics in minority communities are frightening. Did you know that Black Americans are 1.4 times more likely to die from COVID-19? Hispanic Americans are 2 times more likely to be infected and Indigenous people are 3 times more likely to be hospitalized. The disparities are alarming. And more than 14 million children have been infected with the virus. 

Why Should I Vaccinate my child against COVID-19?

*The Pfizer vaccine has been proven safe and effective in children ages 5 and older.

*Getting a COVID-19 vaccine will reduce their chances of getting seriously ill even if they get COVID-19

*Getting vaccinated will reduce the chances of others getting sick

Saying yes to the COVID-19 vaccine was our best chance of moving forward towards a world of hugs, smiles and spending more time with loved ones. The reasons may vary, but the goal is the same, get the vaccine. One of our kids is immunocompromised so as soon as he was eligible we made our appointment. That’s why I am doing all that I can as a mom to protect them. Let’s all do our part and remember that we are stronger together.
