100 CLUB

I’m thrilled to be in the 100 Club at Pure Barre! I was so excited on class #98 that I planned to celebrate my mark with one of my favorite barre teachers. I even went back to back and messaged her that I was coming to celebrate with her. This accomplishment said a lot about how far I have come this year. Normally by now I would have quit or started something new but I really LOVE Pure Barre.

Pure Barre is more than a 55 minute workout. It is fun, good for the mind, body and soul. I truly enjoy my results. (I am down 2 sizes) I also love that feeling when I walk into the studio and I know that I am doing this for me. So I have a confession. I am really on class 185 but they wouldn’t allow me to transfer classes over from the other studio. Needless to say, I was delighted to see my spot at the barre in pink fur and a sparkly pack of sticky socks! I have a long way to go to the next level but for now I will smile and enjoy this first milestone.

MLB All-Star 2017 Fitness Fun

See Your Strong Challenge

About a month ago, Pure Barre announced that they would be doing a challenge leading into the holidays. In order to complete the challenge you have to take 20 barre classes in 31 days. Your reward will be an exclusive See your strong hat! My first response was oh that is easy. I will just take a class 5 days a week. I told my hubby I was going to do the challenge and he laughed. (He knows I don’t like to workout everyday) I said watch me. I got this!

The first week was easy. I was a little sore but I did 5 classes in a row. The second week became more of a challenge. The schedule of school activities and well #momlife came up. I ended up taking a class on a Sunday to keep up. By the third week I was starting to notice muscle toning that wasn’t there before. The back to back classes were bringing quicker results than ever before. Omg! I can see the finish line.

I am so proud to share that on Monday, I completed the challenge of 20 classes in 28 days! I feel great and I see a difference in my whole body. It was not easy and now the hard part is maintaining the results that I have gained over the past month. So I leave you with this. Set a goal and crush it. No pain, no gain! You got this!

Athleisure

I absolutely love athleisure wear and I love that a lot of the designers are creating pieces that can be worn in the gym or at the mall. The other day while shopping in Bloomingdales, I noticed that they changed a whole section to just activewear. I think that it is great that so many people are working out hard and want to look good doing it. Here are my favorite pieces from Beyonce’s Ivy Park Fall 2016 collection! Dance those pounds away!

I feel so lucky to be dancing regularly again (but in a different way). After owning my own dance studio in Colorado for over ten years I had to say goodbye to Studio B and focus on my growing family. As a mom of three my schedule gets hectic but a few months ago I found my way back to my passion, dance! I became a certified Zumba instructor in March 2015.

Now I dance to mostly Latin beats but if you know me, you know that I love all music and all types of dance. Teaching Zumba has helped me drop those extra pounds from baby number three and do something I love. Today the scale showed the weight I was before my last pregnancy almost 5 years later but none the less I have made it back and I couldn’t have done it without Zumba! Sometimes I get tired and think about quitting but then I see the smiling faces and hear the wonderful testimonies from my students. It confirms that I am doing what I should be doing and it’s something that I thoroughly enjoy. Hey think about it, I get paid to keep in shape! I hope that everyone can find something that they enjoy!

It’s funny hearing the words “You are officially a runner”. As a friend of mine said that the other day, I looked around in disbelief and thought she couldn’t possibly be talking to me… but SHE WAS! And boy was it good to hear. I’ve always wanted to be a runner, or at least run in a small race. Nothing big, just a Disney Race so that I can wear a cute tutu. Or one of the local Wine and Chocolate 5k’s so there’s a delicious treat at the end. But I ended up doing so much more than that. I completed the Gate River Run 15k this past March. The Gate River Run is the largest 15k in the United States!

I’ve never been one to set goals or make New Year’s Resolutions, but this year I decided I was going to give my all into getting my life and health together. I started with eating clean consistently and completing the Advocare 24 Day Challenge. I absolutely love Advocare and have taken the Challenge 3 times. It is how I lost most of my baby weight and what taught me how to eat clean. However, this time around I decided to include 6 of my closest family and friends. Under my guidance this group lost over 80 pounds. While they were thankful to me for assisting them in fulfilling some of their personal goals, I was thankful for them the most. Seeing them so successful encouraged me. At this point, I had no excuses. I personally lost weight and inches from the Challenge, I gained an enormous amount of energy because I was finally eating right and realized that if I can help others reach their goal I was strong enough to reach my own.

Slowly but surely I started running. Just a little each morning before my Ship Shape Boot Camp class started. 1/2 a mile was a struggle but I was determined to push through. I decided that I would increase by ½ a mile each week. After 3 weeks I was up to 1½ miles and hit a plateau. Luckily, I have a wonderful group of boot camp friends who knew my struggle, gave me tips and believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself, which was exactly what I needed. I also have an amazing, encouraging, and supportive husband who started running with me whenever I wanted to. So once again, I had no excuses. After about 5 weeks, I decided I was going to sign up for my 1st race, The Gate River Run.

Finishing that race, gave me the most accomplished feeling I have ever felt. Knowing that I completed a goal that I’ve had since high school is still astounding to me. But that was just the beginning! You see, you never know who is watching. As a result, I have helped so many others reach health and weight loss goals through Advocare. I recently earned a spot as an Advocare Advisor. I continue to run 3 times a week and have signed up for my next race. I’ve been an example to my 5 year old daughter who loves to yell “girls rock” when she’s accomplishing her personal goals. I’ve helped and encouraged others to take on a Clean Eating Lifestyle. But most importantly I feel the best that I’ve ever felt in my life, healthy, strong, energetic and young.

I said all of this to say that you can do it!! Whatever your goal is, go for it and keep going until it is achieved.

Got Cardio?

“Are you getting enough cardio?” That’s what my doctor asked at my last checkup. “I guess”, I said I run around all day long from school, to the store to barre and all their after school activities. But maybe not as much as I should. It is recommended that we get at least 30 minutes of cardio a day. Now thanks to my Apple watch I am reminded of that lol. So, I decided to head back to the tennis court to get my extra cardio in. I am no where near ready to play a full game but my coach keeps me moving. Are you looking for ways to get your cardio done? Try something fun like Zumba, Spinning or Tennis! Whatever you choose make sure you enjoy it so it won’t feel like work!

Favorite Workouts

Last April, I was talking with another mom of 3 and I noticed that her body had changed a lot since the last time I saw her. (Especially her booty) I asked her what was she doing. Her response, she used the ballet bars to get her pre-baby body back. I knew I had to try it out for myself. I was a little nervous because the last studio I went to had different levels and the higher the level the more competitive it felt. Yes I was afraid!

Now there are several barre methods out there and you have to find the one that works best for you. Most gyms offer barre classes too. I personally prefer Pure Barre. Pure Barre is the fastest most effective way to change your body.

I signed up right away for the first month unlimited and I got hooked. It is amazing how using light weights, breathing techniques and lots of tucking can really transform your body. After eight classes I saw a difference and I knew this was the perfect workout for me. I love the instructors, the studio is always clean and the more you go, the better you feel. So if you are looking for a way to get that body back try Pure Barre!

Time to Move

Happy New Year! It is taking me a few days to get to the routine again but you gotta do what you gotta do. I am happy to say that I have worked out all three days this week. Tennis on Monday, weight training on Tuesday and Boxing Gym today! Tomorrow is my off day. Is working out on your New Year’s resolution list? What do you do to keep fit? Two months ago I decided that I wanted a change. I was tired of how my clothes were fitting and I just didn’t feel good about myself. So I knew it was time to try something different. I decided to invest in my health and wellness. As moms we do so much for everyone else but we don’t always do the same for ourselves. I’m so close to my goal of losing ten pounds (like a pound away 😂) and I’m so proud that I stuck with it!
