Five tips to Create Work-Life balance

Filed under: Mom Life · April 3, 2023

Let’s face it as women we always have to get things done. We run our homes, businesses family schedules, and social lives and that by itself can be pretty exhausting. Then you add in the additional daily stressors of the world and those unpredictable events and well that often leads to burnout. But it doesn’t have to!

First, I want you to close your eyes and take a long deep breath. Now Exhale. Now picture exactly what you want your life to look like. Think about it for a minute. Now write down exactly how you want your life to be. How do you want to feel? Who’s in it? I firmly believe that if we write it down and say it out loud we are taking the first step towards living the life that we want. To further promote relaxation, you can also consume that CBD Oil. You can also consider buy weed online, which can make you feel good. You can learn more about the best cbd products here. And if you decide to grow your own cannabis, be sure to use high-quality seeds from sites like https://ilgm.com/.

It is also crucial that you seek effective treatment for medical conditions like May Thurner syndrome or varicose veins.

Here are five tips that I use to create more work life balance as a busy mompreneur of three! Feel free to share your favorite tips in the comments.

Say No

  1. Say no to the things that no longer serve you. This can be relationships, jobs, fear, envy, negative self talk etc. Make a list of the top three things that drain your energy. Circle the first one. Now ask yourself is this worth it? If the answer is no well there you go. Example: volunteering to be on every committee

2.  Create a schedule and stick to it. As an entrepreneur I feel like I am always on. A few years ago I started office hours and I only schedule appointments, meetings, business lunches etc during those hours. This gives me more time with my family. Additionally, hiring staff through agence dinterim paris has lightened my workload and allowed me to delegate tasks effectively.

Delegate

3. Delegate: Consider hiring a housekeeper or virtual assistant with tasks that you really don’t have time to do. If you believe your employer is being unfair to you by assigning you tasks that are outside of your expertise, an employment lawyer can talk to you about labor law resources in Oregon.

4. Movement: Move your body at least 30 minutes daily. This helps relieve stress, burns calories and is great for your immune system. Some examples are Yoga, walking, dancing, …. Some individuals find relief from stress through the use of delta 9 indica gummies, which can help promote relaxation and overall well-being, while if you prefer vaping, there are also great products like Terea Sienna flavors for this.

5. Do what you love! If we focus on our jobs and never make time to play and do things that we are passionate about we aren’t really living. If playing video games relaxes you, you may explore the homepage of gamemite. And if you’re into woodworking projects, then you should look into some reliable wood bonding solutions for the best results.

“You can’t do a good job if your job is all that you do.”

Beaches Turks and Caicos

Filed under: Mom Life · June 18, 2019

Hey there Sporty Mommas! How is your summer going so far?  I am almost settled back in after our family vacation to the Beaches Resort in Turks and Caicos. First of all let me say that it was pretty amazing. Some of you have already seen my pictures on Instagram or Facebook so you know that the Stew Crew had a blast. I wanted to share with you some of our favorite things about the trip and a few tips if you plan to visit.

Why Beaches? Every summer and sometimes spring break we always head to Atlantis. We actually spent the day there on our Disney Cruise back in March. My husband and I were talking with the kids and we all voted on trying something new this summer. I think it is a blessing to be able to take them to different places so they can experience new things. We love the beach and I’ve heard amazing things about the Beaches property so I figured hey let’s give it a try. However, I didn’t book the trip until early May and there wasn’t a lot of availability. (Tip 1: Book early)

We originally booked a five night stay in a family kids suite in the Italian Village. But, about a week before our departure I searched online one more time for any available upgrades. There were two suites available in the Key West Village and since it was five of us for so many nights, I went ahead and changed the room category. We were so glad that we did. The two story, two bedroom Key West Villa was just what we needed. It was equipped with two king beds, two full bathrooms, a kitchen, living and dining area, a cute little porch and two balconies. It was like having our own beach house for 6 days. (Tip 2: Check for upgrades/cancellations)

It was our first time staying at an all inclusive resort with the kids. All of the food, drinks, water activities, x-box lounge and shows were included in our package. We experienced great food and service and they made special accommodations for our son who has a gluten-free diet. The kids enjoyed riding in the golf carts, the slides in the water park,  going to the beach and playing video games in the X-box lounge every night. I even played Just Dance 2019 a few times. There was complimentary childcare and day camps for families that needed it but since we have a tween, we kept them all together.

The best part of the trip for me was to see the kids playing in the water with their dad. They laughed, made videos with the go pro and looked for fish and seashells. That reminds me, I have a bag of shells inside one of my purses. The water was so clear that we could see schools of fish in the shallow area of the beach. The sand was so soft it felt like baby powder under your toes. The sunsets each night were breathtaking. Besides overeating at the buffets and gaining four pounds lol, there were really no complaints.

We wrapped up our trip with an amazing photoshoot. All guests receive a complimentary 20 minute photo session on the beach. I am usually really good at planning our family pictures but I forgot this time. (#mombrain) At the last minute I threw together our outfits. All we needed was a white top and denim right? (Tip 3: Coordinate your family photo look in advance) So if you are looking for a great all inclusive vacation, I highly recommend Beaches. The service, food, beaches and smiles were worth every penny. Did you go on vacation yet?

Hey Momma, Breathe!

Filed under: Mom Life · May 20, 2019

Now that Mother’s Day is behind us, some of us probably didn’t get much of a break. #momlife most of us are back on our grind planning the summer, making to do lists and gathering gifts for teacher appreciation week. Yes this week is teacher appreciation week so don’t forget to show your teachers some love. When I was a teacher I loved receiving gift cards so that I could buy whatever I needed at the time. (Hint, hint)

As summer approaches I thought that it would be good to share some quick ways to destress while you have the kids at home for the next 10 weeks. Yes, Lord 10 weeks. Last summer I drove myself a little cray cray because I didn’t really have any plans. We were just sleeping in and playing it by ear. This year I am putting the Stew Crew on a schedule lol! Contact air conditioning repair indianapolis ahead of time to have a cooler summer. Additionally, the air conditioner repair Honolulu provides an optimal solution to maintain your unit in good condition. I hope that you all have an amazing week. Feel free to add more suggestions on ways moms can stay sane this summer in the comments below.

Ways to Destress

  1. Take a yoga class
  2. Enjoy a cup of your favorite hot tea
  3. Take a long walk at the beach or park
  4. Book a massage
  5. Say no to the things that you just don’t want to do
  6. Dance to your favorite jam
  7. A quick 2-5 minute meditation works wonders
  8. Light a candle or use a diffuser with essential oils
  9. Go to lunch solo and sit near a window and people watch
  10. Paint or try something new

XOXO,

Sharonda

Summer, Summer, Summertime!

Well ladies, May is here and unless you have been stuck up north in the cold weather and haven’t really been out, you have probably already seen the beach towels, bikinis and the body lava at Sephora restocked and ready for summer. Summer is a time to unwind and enjoy the family, sun and my favorite the cute summer outfits. I have two really fun events that I am attending this week so I have been out window shopping trying to figure out what I am going to wear. There are some exciting trends going on right now and I am loving all of the oldies that are making a comeback like barrettes, mini skirts and straw bags but also enjoying some of the new trends. Here are the top 10 trends that I see in 2019.

1. Animal Prints
2. Minis

3. The Non-Traditional White Blouse

4. The Straw Handbag

5. The Strappy Sandal

6. Pretty Hair Bows

7. Bright Bold Colors

8. Matching Sets

9. Chunky Sneakers

10. The Cat Eye

Summer Fun at Dolphin Mall

Filed under: Mom Life · July 2, 2018

Happy July!!!!! Summer is officially in full swing and if your kids are going stir crazy in the house like mine, you should consider heading to Dolphin Mall.  Dolphin Mall is Miami’s largest indoor outlet center featuring over 240 stores and theme entertainment. Dolphin Mall is celebrating summer with tons of great promotions and activities for kids. The Stew Crew was super excited when I told them that we were heading to the Dolphin Mall Mommy Blogger event. This event gave us a preview of all of the amazing things that Dolphin Mall has to offer.

Our first stop was Dave and Busters! This summer they are open early at 10 a.m. This was their absolute favorite part of the day. What kid doesn’t love to play video games, like 벳위즈, all day?

There is an exciting new Jurassic Park 3D ride that came out just in time for the movie release. They also added new basketball games similar to those on Ladbrokes Near Me, food items and more ways to win those prizes!!!! We played skee ball, table hockey, Mario Brothers, and shot lots of hoops. On Wednesdays, Dave and Busters will offer half price games all day long. Sounds like the perfect place for a play date, right?

Next we had about an hour to shop. I really wanted to go to IKEA but everyone knows that you need more than an hour at IKEA.  We strolled through the mall and almost every store had some kind of huge sale going on. It was a shopaholics dream come true. Some of my favorite stores there are True Religion, Neiman Marcus and the Saks outlets. It is not easy shopping with 3 kids so I just window shopped that day. We grabbed a little snack from Starbucks and headed to Cinebistro.

Have you ever been to Cinebistro? It is where dinner and a movie really mean just that. They have an amazing menu full of gourmet dishes and delicious desserts. You can get your traditional movie snacks like candy, popcorn and nachos but you can also have fettuccini Alfredo, cheesecake  and a martini. The comfy plush seats and extra room made my kids feel right at home. We enjoyed watching the Incredibles 2 with all of the other families. Cinebistro is kid friendly until 6 p.m.

The next time we go back I promised to take them to Bowlero. On Mondays they have $14.19 unlimited bowling and shoe rental. Bowlero is really cool too because they have laser tag. Cobb theaters will offer free admission to kids every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 10 a.m. so you definitely should check that out. The Stew Crew had a blast and can’t wait till we plan our next Dolphin Mall outing. For more information you can visit www.shopdolphinmall.com!!!

Sharonda

The Bikini Slump

Filed under: Mom Life · June 21, 2018

I have a confession to make. I have been slipping a bit since Mother’s Day weekend. I have been skipping out on my workouts. I mean I did a barre class here and there. Had a weekly private yoga class and even made it to the track a few times but I haven’t been working out or eating like I should. I know most of you are probably like oh please you are small, you don’t have to worry about your weight but yes I do and so should you.

For I while I let myself go. I could blame it on the busy May schedule and end of the school year  activities or the basketball tournaments and party planning. But, the truth is, I really didn’t feel like working out. Every day I would say I will go tomorrow. It’s not a big deal. But I was eating more carbs than usual and hitting the Starbucks drive thru daily. Pound after pound and week after week it was becoming a big deal and then it slapped me in the face.

I went to the mall last week with the family to have dinner. Our wait time for a table was around 45 minutes so I figured that I would walk around and look for a new swimsuit for our upcoming vacation. I went to a few stores before actually trying on a swimsuit because I honestly wasn’t ready. I knew what was coming. I even bumped into my mommy friend Jess as I browsed through Everything But Water. She too complained about not being the size that she wanted for bikini season. We laughed and just encouraged each other to just enjoy life and embrace our “2018” summer bodies. Then I proceeded into the fitting room with 4 swimsuits.

As I undressed I already knew what was going to happen. I saw the extra jiggle in the mirror. I was honestly so disappointed at first. The hot pink suit that I loved didn’t have enough support up top and my second favorite suit called for a larger size bottom. At least they had it in stock right? I even jokingly said to myself “Hey don’t worry, big booties are in these days. People are paying to have a bigger ass. You better work with whatcha got”! So I purchased a swimsuit in a larger size and said the heck with it.

But the truth is that it was a painful reminder that I have been slipping and deep down inside I don’t really like it. I have to take action and do something about it real fast. So if you find yourself in my situation don’t beat yourself up over it. Buy the larger suit but don’t just settle there. Acknowledge that you may have fallen off the plan and do whatever it takes to get back on it. This month I pledge to do better. I pledge to say no to the junk food cravings and the tall white mochas from Starbucks. I pledge to get my butt on the elliptical machine because it is to freaking hot to walk the track. I pledge to drop 5 pounds by August first. Are you in a bikini slump? What is your pledge?

Summer Self Care

Filed under: Mom Life · June 1, 2018

Yayyy! Summer is like really here!  Well not officially according to the calendar but most of our kids will be out of school soon and that means that we don’t have to wake up as early to rush to school but we do have to find ways to keep them busy. For SAHM summer can be really challenging. You don’t get your usual free time to workout, or time to clean and do chores without yelling “stop that” every ten minutes. Between camps, vacations, play dates and all of the down time, we moms will probably work harder in the summer than during the school year. It is still extremely important that we make some time for ourselves to de-stress and stay sane over the next 10 weeks.  As June approaches, I wanted to share a few self care tips for the summer. And for the record I am not just preaching to the choir, I have to remind myself of this too.

Top 5 Tips

  1. Power walking: It helps release stress and burns calories
  2. Meditation a few minutes a day preferably in the morning to set the tone for the day. Evenings are great too. I find that it helps me settle down before bedtime. There are some great guided meditations on YOUTube. I personally like Gabby Bernstein or Headspace
  3. Take a yoga class or self practice with Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube! She has a lot of 21 day challenges and you pick your level.
  4. Mom’s Night Out. Call up your mom squad and schedule a happy hour. Town and House have great ladies night specials on Monday and Tuesday nights.
  5. Stay-Cation!!! Squeeze in a quick overnight trip to your favorite hotel in your city and just enjoy the quiet time. If you can’t stay the night, just spend the day and enjoy the spa and relax by the pool. Trust me you will feel refreshed. I highly recommend the Mandarin Oriental. The spa is amazing!!!!!

I hope that these tips help you to keep calm and have a magical summer. The most important thing is to remember it is okay to take a break, you deserve it!!!!

Back to School Blues

Filed under: Mom Life · August 18, 2017

I knew this day was coming. Admit it, we all did. The day we would have to go back to setting our alarm clocks, scheduling drop offs, pick ups, packing lunches, doctors appointments, meetings oh and HOMEWORK the best part.  After 9 weeks of vacation and yes this summer our family lived it up, we traveled until the wheels literally fell off of the suitcases. There was Disney, Atlanta, Atlantis and oh my favorite Turks and Caicos! We got to spend quality time with family and friends and enjoyed lots of good food. But now it is time to face the music.

19665564_10211688341461271_2838376786476704095_n

On Monday the alarm will go off not once but twice. We now have three kiddos at two different schools. You know what that means, lots of driving back and forth between schools, practices, tutoring and play dates. I already got a taste of it this week because one kid started school a week earlier. The carpool selfies are going to be filling your Instagram and Facebook timelines very soon. Traffic jams, detours and lunch on the run here I come!

20881824_10212095653803825_1025932908874511841_n

This school year will be very different for us. We officially have a middle schooler. Yes those wonderful days of middle school filled with puberty, girl fights, detentions, first crushes and those first real disappointments. Like not having anyone to sit with at lunch, forgetting your locker combination way too many times, pimples, not making the cheerleading squad or dance team. Those days that most moms blocked out when they arrived to high school. So please pray for me. Pray that I too survive this second round of middle school. That I can be a tool of patience, love, understanding, kindness and guidance for my beautiful daughter whom at 11 years old is already taller, smarter and stronger than I was at that age.

20375833_10211953151801364_4408251481252909235_n

On the bright side, I do look forward to having a little time to myself again. All summer long I have been on the clock. Every now and then I squeezed in some “ME” time but definitely not enough. Now I can workout on a real schedule, get my nails done, blog, volunteer, meet up with friends for lunch, and shop when I want to solo!!!!!!! I might even finish that book that I started last year. Oh my the list could go on and on. So although going back to school is bitter sweet, I know that the kids need to get back to their routines and so do we. Cheers to a fabulous 2017-2018 school year!

#SummerFun

Filed under: Mom Life · June 19, 2017

Last week the Stew Crew and I loaded up the truck and headed up to Dolphin Mall for a day of fun. We were super excited to see all of the new stores and restaurants that opened since our last visit. And yes we needed to get our last minute Father’s Day gifts for the Sporty Dads in our lives. Our first stop was breakfast at Cabo Flats. Cabo Flats is a cool Mexican restaurant that is known for their Salsa Nights. Yes, you can go learn how to Salsa at Dolphin Mall.

IMG_5182

After breakfast we had a few hours to shop. The kids got to pick a few stores to go in. Momma got her shop on too. We were quick enough to grab a few gifts and a little something for ourselves. Game Stop, Neiman Marcus, GAP, Foot Locker and Victoria’s Secret were a must.

IMG_5187

Next, we met the other Mommy bloggers and their kiddos at Cool de Sac! All of the kids had a blast. It was a great time to wine down and enjoy a little lunch while the kids got to play. Cool de Sac is a great spot for busy moms to connect, watch the kids play and enjoy healthier meal options. Oh and they have WINE!!!! They have a toddler area, mini playground with cool thermoplastic playground markings and computer game station for those video game junkies. The Stew Crew had so much fun that they did not want to leave.

IMG_5190

But the fun didn’t stop there. Next up was bowling at Bowlero which also offers laser tag. We chose to bowl and the competition was fierce with those bumpers y’all! After an early lead I ended up coming in third place. It was fun though and the kids can’t wait to go back.

IMG_5188

So if you are looking to do some really cool stuff with the kiddos this summer, head on over to Dolphin Mall. There’s definitely something for everyone and you can stay cool and dry in this crazy Miami weather.  We ate, shopped and played til we dropped. #naptime
