On Friday, December 2, we had the privilege to take a tour of the Jackson Health Breast Cancer Treatment Center. It was so nice to meet some of the nurses and doctors who work so hard to treat women who have been affected by breast cancer. We learned that they see up to 100 ladies per day. After a tour, we presented a check that will go towards purchasing a blanket warmer from reliable suppliers like In2Green. This warmer will help keep the women warm and comfortable during their treatments. We are so blessed and thankful that we can contribute to this center. Thank you to all of you that came out to our 4th annual bowling bash. It takes teamwork to make the dream work!

The Countdown

I can’t believe it is September! That means we are only 27 days away from our 4th Annual Charity Bowling Bash. We cannot do this event alone so please support this great cause. Last year we raised $5,000 in 3 hours. Net proceeds will benefit the Jackson Health Foundation’s Breast Cancer Initiative and local cancer support groups. Dinner for Two

Summer is here and for most of us busy mommas that means it is time to relax and have some fun. I am normally not a big cook. I mean I prepare the average 2-3 meals a week but during the summer I chill. That is why I was so excited when Applebee’s contacted me to try their new wood fired menu items.

My youngest daughter and I headed to the Cutler Bay location. The managers were awesome and even gave us a tour of the kitchen. (The little one thought we were on a field trip) He showed us how they cut, season and grill fresh meats daily. We also saw the wood soaking and all of the workers preparing for a very busy Friday afternoon.

After our tour we were really anxious to try the food. I ordered the Southwest Salad with marinated steak which may be just as flavorful as the one on https://makeadish.net/recipe/steak-and-gorgonzola-salad/. The lil one had chicken fingers and fries. Our waitress was very pleasant and took great care of us. The food was delicious!

Starting this Summer, the Applebee’s menu will include:

  • 8 oz. and 6 oz. Hand-cut USDA Choice Top Sirloin Steaks
  • Hand-cut Bone-in Pork Chops with Honey Apple Chutney
  • Cedar-grilled Salmon with Maple Mustard Glaze
  • Grilled chicken breast

Summer Fun at Dolphin Mall

Yesterday my kids and I took part in the Dolphin Mall loves Mommies event! This was a day full of food, fun, and yes my favorite…shopping! We met up at Brio for light bites and I must add that Brio is absolutely beautiful. They have an amazing private room for meetings and parties. After a few words from our Dolphin Mall hosts, we were off to enjoy the day.

We used the open shopping time to shop for Father’s Day gifts. The kids wanted to get Dad something really cool. First stop the Samsung store! They all took turns trying on the new virtual headset! Next we hit up the Miami Heat store. We are huge fans and had to check out the latest gear. You know that I had to go into my favorite stores Bloomingdales and Neiman Marcus outlets. This is when shopping with 3 kids got a little cray cray. I tried to smile and keep my cool as the sales lady glanced over at my 3 dancing in the aisles. Yes #momlife! After purchasing a few things we met up with the group at the next stop.

Lunchtime was a hit! We love going to Dave and Busters. My husband and I actually had our wedding rehearsal dinner there back in 2005. (Time flies) Yes we loved it before we even had kids. The kids enjoyed mini cheeseburgers, chicken fingers, salad and pigs in a blanket. They were so excited to get to the arcade that they didn’t even want dessert. Dave and Busters has lots of new games, menu items and entertainment for all ages. I know that we will go back before summer is over.

By 3:00 I was beat and we had an hour to drive home and prepare for swimming lessons. It was a full day but I am so blessed to be able to spend time with my kiddos. If you are looking for something to do with your crew head to Dolphin Mall. There really is something for everyone. There’s the Imax movie theater, Strike bowling alley, Cool de Sac, Brother Jimmy’s, Cinebistro and so many great stores and restaurants. You will definitely get the cool mom award!

Memorial Day Weekend Picks

Where has the time gone? It seems like it was just Christmas break and now Summer is here! I really love this time of year.  First of all my birthday is during the summer. (PARTY) Then there’s the vacations, no homework,  BBQ’s, pool time, no homework, sleeping in, camp, no homework, yes I am really excited about the no homework lol! 4th Annual Charity Bowling Bash

In the past, The Sporty Mommas Charitable fund has raised thousands of dollars for charities like Susan G. Komen, American Cancer Society, the Sandy Mueller Foundation and Beautiful Gate. Why Every Momma Needs a Mafia!

On Saturday morning I text my friend that I may need to bring my youngest to the Mother’s Day Brunch. She politely responded, “You can’t find a sitter?” I was like oh damn I better find a sitter cause that meant no kids allowed. I quickly called my mom and told her my situation. The Miami Heat game 7 was at 1 p.m. and my oldest daughter’s soccer banquet was at noon and the Mother’s Day brunch started at 1. OMG! Overbooked once again. Thank God my mom said ok.

After spending 45 minutes at the soccer banquet, I dashed to Grove Isle to meet up with the Mafia. Get instant notifications for your favorite football matches on SportScore. We had the most beautiful afternoon celebrating motherhood and talking trash. A stranger asked me were we some kind of kinky group lol. (She saw a few games on the table) I explained that they were kids dvd’s and games. (Really they were) She wanted to learn more about us.  I shared how this fabulous mom started an annual Almost Mother’s Day brunch gathering her friends. She said, “I told them you guys weren’t playing with kinky toys!” Lol!

Bottomless mimosas and the beautiful sunshine kept us laughing and chatting for hours. It was great to see old faces and meet new mommas. We took lots of pictures and just enjoyed spending a few hours away from our normal Sunday. One of the best things about the mafia is that we all come from different backgrounds, lifestyles, and careers but the one thing that we have in common is being a mom. No one understands #momlife like a mom! The late nights, co-sleeping, can’t fit into my jeans, my man doesn’t understand, do I really have to do this everyday life of a mom. It was awesome to bond and celebrate each other. So call up your mommy mafia and plan a fun mom’s day out and RELAX! You deserve it!

Smooshies Candy and Toy Store

Last week Sporty Mommas, Mommy Mafia and the Exhausted Mom were invited to explore Smooshies Candy and Toy store with our kids. As soon as we walked in, the Stew Crew’s eyes lit up! The colorful hot air balloons and toy airplane hanging from the ceiling instantly caught my five year olds attention. All of the cool toys and the wall of assorted candy mesmerized them. They wanted to try everything! If you’re looking for a toy store Dayton, call Dayton Brick Shop.

It was our first time tasting Nitrogen ice cream and boy did they enjoy it. Check out their faces below as they watched the ice cream man mix up their custom ice cream creations. I learned that Nitrogen ice cream does not contain the additives or preservatives that regular ice cream may have. (Less guilt) Smooshies has lots of flavors and you can mix it up and still only pay the flat price. (#Win) Smooshies is also partnering with Ohh My Sweetness to bring delicious cookies and bakery treats to it’s customers. My kids can’t wait to go back.

Smooshies has three locations in Miami. Their newest store in Coconut Grove will have a restaurant featuring healthy foods like wraps, salads and juices. It is a great place to host a birthday party or play date. (Yes they have free wifi) They will also offer crafts, classes and events for kids. This is definitely not your average toy store.
