#noexcuses

Filed under: Mom Life · April 15, 2016

It’s no secret that we live in a busy world. I was talking to another #bossmom on Wednesday about how fast paced Miami is and how we are always on the run. How do you find time to workout, eat clean and make time for yourself when you are always on the go? I use to make excuses I don’t have time to workout, I don’t have time to cook, why eat clean? Well four months ago I decided to quit making excuses and just give it a try.

With the help of healthier fast food options like Grown and Dr. Smood, I have cut back on a lot of processed foods and swapped out fresh juices and smoothies instead of Starbucks everyday. (Yes I went to Starbucks every weekday) I also try my best to shop at Whole Foods where I know I am surrounded by healthier options. It is a little more expensive but hey you get what you pay for. I never thought I would eat raw oats or drink avocado smoothies, but they actually taste pretty good.

Making time to workout is a must nowadays. When I don’t go to Pure Barre or hit the track I feel out of whack. I do not workout everyday but I do at least 3 days a week. This is my “ME” time. I am working on building a stronger body and a calmer mind lol! Don’t get it wrong, I also schedule lunch with a friend at least once a week.

As a result I have dropped a few pounds and I feel great. I know it is not easy but if you believe you can do it and set small goals you will get it done! Yes we live in a busy world where everyone is trying to keep up with social media and television but remember most of those posts are not authentic. You have to do what works for you. #yougotthis

It’s funny hearing the words “You are officially a runner”. As a friend of mine said that the other day, I looked around in disbelief and thought she couldn’t possibly be talking to me… but SHE WAS! And boy was it good to hear. I’ve always wanted to be a runner, or at least run in a small race. Nothing big, just a Disney Race so that I can wear a cute tutu. Or one of the local Wine and Chocolate 5k’s so there’s a delicious treat at the end. But I ended up doing so much more than that. I completed the Gate River Run 15k this past March. The Gate River Run is the largest 15k in the United States!

I’ve never been one to set goals or make New Year’s Resolutions, but this year I decided I was going to give my all into getting my life and health together. I started with eating clean consistently and completing the Advocare 24 Day Challenge. I absolutely love Advocare and have taken the Challenge 3 times. It is how I lost most of my baby weight and what taught me how to eat clean. However, this time around I decided to include 6 of my closest family and friends. Under my guidance this group lost over 80 pounds. While they were thankful to me for assisting them in fulfilling some of their personal goals, I was thankful for them the most. Seeing them so successful encouraged me. At this point, I had no excuses. I personally lost weight and inches from the Challenge, I gained an enormous amount of energy because I was finally eating right and realized that if I can help others reach their goal I was strong enough to reach my own.

Slowly but surely I started running. Just a little each morning before my Ship Shape Boot Camp class started. 1/2 a mile was a struggle but I was determined to push through. I decided that I would increase by ½ a mile each week. After 3 weeks I was up to 1½ miles and hit a plateau. Luckily, I have a wonderful group of boot camp friends who knew my struggle, gave me tips and believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself, which was exactly what I needed. I also have an amazing, encouraging, and supportive husband who started running with me whenever I wanted to. So once again, I had no excuses. After about 5 weeks, I decided I was going to sign up for my 1st race, The Gate River Run.

Finishing that race, gave me the most accomplished feeling I have ever felt. Knowing that I completed a goal that I’ve had since high school is still astounding to me. But that was just the beginning! You see, you never know who is watching. As a result, I have helped so many others reach health and weight loss goals through Advocare. I recently earned a spot as an Advocare Advisor. I continue to run 3 times a week and have signed up for my next race. I’ve been an example to my 5 year old daughter who loves to yell “girls rock” when she’s accomplishing her personal goals. I’ve helped and encouraged others to take on a Clean Eating Lifestyle. But most importantly I feel the best that I’ve ever felt in my life, healthy, strong, energetic and young.

I said all of this to say that you can do it!! Whatever your goal is, go for it and keep going until it is achieved.

Got Cardio?

Filed under: Fit Moms · March 31, 2016

“Are you getting enough cardio?” That’s what my doctor asked at my last checkup. “I guess”, I said I run around all day long from school, to the store to barre and all their after school activities. But maybe not as much as I should. It is recommended that we get at least 30 minutes of cardio a day. Now thanks to my Apple watch I am reminded of that lol. So, I decided to head back to the tennis court to get my extra cardio in. I am no where near ready to play a full game but my coach keeps me moving. Are you looking for ways to get your cardio done? Try something fun like Zumba, Spinning or Tennis! Whatever you choose make sure you enjoy it so it won’t feel like work!

BeautyCounter

Filed under: Mom Life · March 8, 2016

When a friend of mine called and shared her passion for Beauty Counter I was blown away. I was already on my clean out everything from the kitchen to the bathroom sink so her timing was perfect. The mission of providing safer skincare products for the whole family is one that I can stand behind. I had no idea that 60% of what we put on our skin is absorbed into our bodies. I also had no idea that there were no laws regulating the use of chemicals in skincare products since 1938. CRAZY! The effects of what we put on our bodies is just as bad as what we directly put in. As mothers we want the very best for our families. It’s time to make a change and the time is now. Check out http://www.beautycounter.com/sharondabutler-stewart/ and learn more. Perhaps even join our team!

Super Bowl = Party Time!!!!

Filed under: Mom Life · January 22, 2016

It’s the NFL playoffs, which can be wagered on 벳엔드 사이트, and with all of the excitement and buzz around the games, it won’t be too long before the thought pops into your head , “Should I have a Super Bowl party!”! As you smile at your subconscious, instantly you frown- A Super Bowl party? Where do I start? How many people? I don’t want to cook for all of those people, and let’s not forget – the clean up… Who’s going to do that? As quickly as the idea popped into your head, you try to forget it and continue drinking your caramel macchiato.

Here at “Out of Box” no challenge is too great, and we’ve simplified the process into six steps for you to have a successful football party.

Six Steps to Having a Successful Super Bowl Party

1. Decide on a Budget – Decide on what is most important to you: decorations, specialty beers, having a catered party or all of the above.

2. Create a Guest List– Invite a few extra friends over, just in case a few people cancel.

3. Decide on your Decorations (this is the fun part) – There are so many options and themes, they’re… endless! For example, have fun with your tables and menus. Create– a color scheme based on the teams that are playing or your favorite team.

4. Menu Selection – Is anyone a vegetarian, is there anyone allergic to nuts – etc? Does everyone drink beer? Having, a few bottles of wine or cocktails available would allow for good alternative options for the few that may want something else. Hiring a coffee cart hire Sydney is smart because some of the guests would like a non-alcoholic beverage option.

5. Designated Drivers – With everyone having a great time, it’s important that safety is always remembered. – A suggested tip is to have a cappuccino, espresso or coffee station for your guests as the party begins to wind down. Keep an eye on those that may have had one too many, and if possible, make space on the couch for overnighters. And remember, accidents can happen, so it’s wise to keep the number of car accident lawyers handy just in case. If you are seeking legal representation for a car accident, Columbia, SC personal injury lawyers can provide the expertise and support needed to pursue your case effectively. Save Car’s Cash For Junk Clunkers at 260 Mary Dunn Way, Hyannis, MA 02601 (833) 659-3693 to your contacts in case you need cash for cars that are damaged.

6. Plan a Half–Time Activity: Plan a short activity for your guests .Fun games such as, super bowl trivia, darts, or touch football usually win the crowd over.
There’s nothing like a great party with a central theme – In this case football. With all of the game excitement and friendly competition, it’s great to share these moments and joys of this football season with friends and family members. Happy Planning!

The Soccer Mom Life

Filed under: Mom Life · January 21, 2016

By now you probably know that I am a pretty busy momma. It sorta comes with the territory. (A hubby, three kids, a dog and a business lol) Last year my oldest daughter decided she wanted to try out for the travel soccer team. At first I was like no way, not with three kids but my husband convinced me to let her try out. Of course she made the team!

At the team meeting they informed us that we would stay local and attend 2-3 out of town tournaments a year. Back then (May) January 15th seemed far away. Here we are in January and we just returned from the Kelme Cup. I must admit it was pretty awesome. Okay take away the tornado warning going to Naples on Friday, the tornado that hit close to Naples on Sunday and staying in the Hampton Inn. Oh and I forgot to mention it was our wedding anniversary. Cheers!

The bonding between the team and parents was incredible and we came home with a trophy so it was totally worth it. I won’t complain about the hotel, the kids almost getting kicked out of the lobby and my son’s sudden stomach bug as we were heading back to Miami  that made us stay another night. I will remember my daughter playing her butt off while taking a beaten on the field. I will remember the team celebrating after she kicked a goal from mid field. I will remember them walking across the stage receiving their first soccer tournament trophy. That was pretty damn awesome!

Turn Lemons into Lemonade!

Filed under: Mom Life · January 14, 2016

The vision board party was planned a while back. Last year we did one for Femfessionals and it was a no brainer to do one in 2016. As President of a networking group and have my own stuff between Sporty Mommas and the 3 Stews, my plate is FULL! I booked a speaker a month ago for the luncheon because I wanted to step it up a little from last year. We had a phone conference on the 5th of January and everything was a go. Then on the 11th (3 days before the event), I got a message saying that they were unable to speak. WTH? Flyers have been circulating for 3 weeks. Arrangements were made. The guest list was growing and no speaker.  Yeah!

After discussing it with my hubby, he said, “why don’t you just do it”? I said “yeah, you are right”. So today I stepped out of my comfort zone and led my first vision board workshop. It wasn’t scripted. I just spoke from my heart and kept it short and simple. The lesson learned from all of this, don’t get upset over stuff that you really have no control over. Take a leap of faith and keep it moving! Yes, I could have cancelled or called and complained  to the speaker but I just let things go the way they were supposed to go. Everything happens for a reason and I look forward to perfecting my vision board workshop for the next one!

Be YOU, Be GREAT, Be FABULOUS!

Sharonda

Last Friday, I had the most beautiful morning with FemCity Miami! This group of women is truly special—they inspire me in countless ways and remind me that we are always stronger together.
Our philanthropic chair, Robin, partnered with Chapman to create holiday gift bags for the women in our local homeless shelter, and it was such a meaningful way to kick off the season.
There are so many ways to give back during the holidays. Please consider volunteering or donating to your local charities—you can make a real difference!
