September MOM: Veronica Lepere

Filed under: Sporty Momma of the Month · September 19, 2014

Veronica Lepere was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At the age of 7 her family moved to Santa Cruz, Boliva where she was raised. She graduated with a Graphics Art Design and Marketing degree from UPSA (Private University of Santa Cruz de La Sierra, Bolivia). She arrived to Miami, Fl in August 2000. Veronica is the owner of Art with Fun and Kiddos Magazine. She is the proud, sporty momma of Marco Andre (8).

 Q. What do you love the most about being a mom?

Motherhood comes naturally for me! What I love the most about being a Mom is that

Marco can make any moment special. With him every day is an adventure.

Watching him grow, smile, cry, learn and develop into a young man makes me feel proud that I am raising a human being that will make a difference in the future. Life has much more meaning where you are a happy Mom!

Q. When did you decide to create a magazine?

The inspiration behind Kiddos dates back to 2009, when I founded “Veronica Lepere Design & Events.”Through “Art with Fun”I have had the opportunity to get closer to children and discover their creativity, passions and interests. My experience working with children has given me a better understanding of the need and importance of education and activities for our kiddos that’s why I also learned about subjects like a Speech Therapy Program for small kids that have difficulties in this area. I’ve found that it was necessary to introduce a fresh, fun and colorful magazine that was designed to enjoy reading and engage in family time. So over a year ago, by taking baby steps, I started working on this amazing project.

“My desire is to provide parents the tools and resources to raise kids with opportunities that will lead them to a successful future.”

Q. What are some of your biggest challenges as a business owner?

Some of my biggest challenges are finding great candidates for the company, and to hold on to them. Finding a well-organized assistant who can handle all of the details that are key and essential to supporting the processes of attending the business details, meet deadlines, etc.

Q. Describe the day before your magazine goes to print.

A day before the magazine goes to print is a very important day! I can tell you that I can breathe J; even still there are some minor changes to do in the graphics department. A great feeling of accomplishment is in the air!

Q. Congratulations on your first Anniversary of Kiddos Magazine. What do you love the most about your publication?

Wow! Thank you Sporty Mommas! A full year of hard and continuous work! It is truly humbling and I find myself quite emotional about where God has brought us after one year.

What I love the most is that I am communicating, educating and informing the Miami community, as well as meeting so many amazing people who work every day for our kids and families. This has been such a precious gift. I am doing what I love.

Q. Any advice for mothers that would like to start their own business?

My advice for every mom is to just follow your dreams and your heart. There is nothing that you can’t do. Put together all of the pieces and jump out on your own adventure.

The possibilities are endless. Plant your seeds and be patient, the results will brighten your life and strengthen your spirit. Do what you love! Transitioning to a discussion on smart investment strategies, acquiring a business that already shows profit margins is an astute move. In the realm of opportunities, property management stands out due to its resilience in economic fluctuations and its potential for passive income. With the right approach, one can enjoy the benefits of owning a business without the initial setup hurdles. Interested parties can find valuable listings by visiting a dedicated marketplace for property management enterprises up for acquisition.

Q. How can our readers get in touch with you?

Party All the Time

Filed under: Mom Life · August 24, 2014

This weekend was busy. Ok who am I kidding every weekend with a hubby, 3 kids and a dog is busy but I have been running nonstop! On Friday we enjoyed celebrating our friend’s 40th birthday party on the rooftop at the SOHO Beach House. It was so nice and even though it is quite warm right now in the 305, the ocean breeze kept us comfortable. The next day running off of 5 hours of sleep, I rushed to a 6 hour meeting with a mommy group planning the upcoming year and made it to my childhood BFF’s baby shower. It was great seeing old friends and their moms after all these years. Crazy how time flies. Here is a peek at my weekend style.

Be YOU, Be GREAT, Be FABULOUS

Don’t Quit

Filed under: Mom Life · August 22, 2014

I was talking with another mom this afternoon and asked her how did she do it. She is a wife, mom of three and successful business owner and somehow seems to always have it all together. She told me it was hard. She has her moments. I felt so much better. This first week of school has been an adjustment. I have to retrain my brain to juggle wifey duties, mommy duties, business duties all off of 6 hours of sleep lol. My old teacher told me this morning, “You gotta do what you gotta do”. Some days are better than others but you just have to keep swimming as Cora says in Finding Nemo.

She went on to earn her Master of Science Degree from Nova Southeastern University where she is currently completing her doctoral degree in education with a major in speech-language pathology. Her current research focuses on the language-literacy connection.

Kirsten has also worked with Miami-Dade County Public Schools for 14 years. She specializes in 補習 elementary, middle, and high school students. In her spare time, Kirsten loves family time, board games, and being outdoors. She’s enjoys working on projects with her son, quiet date nights with her husband, and reading inspirational books. One of her biggest priorities is giving back to the community and to others!

Q. What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

One of my favorite things about being a mom is seeing what a difference you can make in a child’s life. The little things that take a little, or a lot, longer when you let them “help” you but then seeing that smile when they finish or seeing them develop that feeling of compassion and care for others and independently reach out to help another person, those are definitely the moments that I cherish!

Q. Who inspired you the most growing up?

I would have to say my grandmother. She raised 7 children, was married over 50 years, and was extremely strong in her beliefs of the importance of family time. Whether it was learning lessons over a game of Scrabble, swinging on the hammock, or at the endless family reunions she planned, she always had positive advice to share and a great ear to listen.

Q. What is Design Therapy of Miami?

Design Therapy of Miami is a unique family-focused therapy center where we provide evaluations and treatment for speech/language and occupational therapy. Our practice focuses on the language-literacy connection and enables parents the ability to watch the therapy sessions via live video feed and review progress with videos. Whether working on pre-literacy skills, word finding, executive functioning, sensory integration or more, we always provide the highest level of research-based interventions while working closely with the family and academic teams. We also love giving back to the community including hosting our fun family movie nights!

Q. Describe a typical day in your life.

Typically I’m up by 5:30 and off to the gym which is my much needed time for me, then sneaking in my protein shake and emails before I start with clients around 7:30, a few days a week I teach American Sign Language classes at UM or attend a school meeting or two. Then I’m off to run errands, grab lunch with a friend, and pass by my husband’s open houses before my afternoon begins with the most amazing kids and families back at the office. My late evenings are filled with cooking with Chef Dylan, my son, and projects with our family enjoying the little things that count. Bed time routine, one of my favorite times of the day, includes lots of retell of our days, planning for tomorrow, and reading books. As I lie in bed each night, check a few more emails, and read the social media updates, I try to be thankful for the things that made me smile that day and get a few hours sleep!

Q. What is your favorite football team?

This is the easiest question as I live for football season and especially college football. My favorite team would be the Florida Gators, I know we haven’t been that good lately, but they are still my team. To be fair sometimes you will see me in a Canes shirt, as I also work at UM, or an FIU shirt, as my husband works there as an adjunct faculty member.

Q. What is one thing that your momma never told you about motherhood that you wish you knew?

I never knew the extent of the balancing act and all the “invisible” things moms do to keep the family moving whether it’s that never-ending to do list (mine definitely has a rollover option), throwing in one last load of laundry, leaving reminder notes, planning a vacation, or somehow squeezing in time for yourself to stay balanced.

Q. Any advice for mothers that may suspect that their child has a speech/language disorder?

I would definitely listen to your mommy voice and consult a speech-language pathologist. There are so many times when people will tell you to wait or use excuses “she’s still little” or “he’s a boy,” but with the rate academics are progressing, we no longer have the luxury of waiting. There are areas we can help with from producing sounds to oral and written language skills. Sometimes kids don’t need direct therapy, but there are other suggestions we can make to help stimulate their language development and help you monitor their progress.

Weekend Style

This is one of my favorite jumpsuits of the summer. Last weekend my hubby and I attended a surprise 40th birthday party. At the last minute I found this tribal jumpsuit at Blush boutique in South Miami. I added a pop of red to give it a flair. My sandals are Bandalino! I love popping into Blush from time to time to see what new arrivals they have. The sale rack is a must. If you are in a hurry and need something cute stop by Blush. They have five boutiques in Miami.

The Unexpected

Today my hubby and I were at one of our favorite breakfast spots. We were so wrapped up in our conversation and delicious food that we didn’t really pay attention to the people around us. After we ate we waited patiently for the bill. After about 15 minutes we asked our server for the check. She told us the couple behind us took care of our bill. My husband was shocked. I was a little myself, but I was disappointed that I didn’t get to see their faces. We didn’t even get to say thank you. I realized though that is how God works. He places people all around us to do His work. If we keep on doing the right thing and be faithful, He will continue to bless us when we least expect it.

Be You, Be Great, Be Fabulous

I was so excited to learn about the safety features that Apple has in place that some of us may not really know about. Like…..how to set up a child account , protection enabled for teens, managing screen time, communication limits, and communication safety that is designed to help protect your child from viewing sensitive photos and videos.
