It is a new month, my birth month and I am so excited! I will be celebrating all month long so get ready for lots of stories. With less than two months until Antigua, I am kicking up my workout routine a notch harder. First step, train four days a week. I must admit that I am starting to love working out and feel better mentally and spiritually. Now it is time to go shopping for some cool sneakers to rock with my Sporty Momma’s athletic tees and pants. It’s my birthday, momma deserves a new pair of shoes!!!
WTF?
Today was suppose to be an afternoon of pampering with some girlfriends at a spa in Midtown. I had not had a mani/pedi in about two months so I was really looking forward to meeting the ladies and getting my 4th of July nails ready. As soon as I walked into the location, the mood wasn’t right. It was actually a hair salon and a little congested. I was about ten minutes late because I got lost. I signed in and selected my “forever young” nail polish. About four of the other ladies were already getting pampered, so I joined them. My manicurist was RUDE. She never looked up at me. She did not say hello or nada. She actually spent about 15 minutes on my nails and 8 of those minutes she was on the phone texting. I have been to tons of nail places and never in all of these years experienced something like this. I told the manager I refused to allow her to do my pedicure. Then comes rude lady number two. (She did make eye contact though)I don’t know if they were all upset today or did not like how we looked. They clearly did not want to service us. I did not let them ruin my “mommy break” so I headed to the shops of midtown and did a little window shopping. The other ladies joined me for lunch at Lime which ended up being a blast thanks to the frozen sangria. #turnlemonsintolemonade
Fabulous Friday
I can’t believe it is the weekend again. Where is the summer going? It has been a great Friday so far. This morning I attended a workshop that reassured me that I am on the right track in this business world. I wanted to use this summer to reflect on goals for the future and the official launch of Sporty Mommas. One thing that I learned this morning is that “we are in our own way.” You have the power to do what ever your heart desires. You have to make a choice to Just Do It! Have a fabulous Friday!!! The best is yet to come.
#TBT: Family Reunion
It is officially one week away from the Greene Family Reunion. I am excited to see my family and friends for a weekend of fun in the sun. (I hope it’s sunny) The last gathering we had was for Grandpa’s funeral and we promised the next time we got together it would be a happy occasion. We are busy making last minute preparations for the big 4th of July celebration at Casa de Stewart and boy do I have my hands full. (Thanks Mom) I know it will be a blast and so worth the hard work. The last time we had a real family reunion I was 16 or 17 so it has been a longgggg time. I know there will be lots of food, laughter and dancing. So the pic of the day is from Madea’s Family Reunion. The Electric Slide never goes out of style and you know we will be getting our groove on by the pool. See you soon Fam!!!!
What I’m Loving Wednesday: Top Shop
Since it is the summer and the kids take up most of the cash between camp and entertaining them, I try not to shop to much. A few months ago I saw Brandy wearing a dress from Top Shop. I didn’t really pay to much attention. Last month, I saw a picture of Beyonce wearing a cute two piece from Top Shop for like $86. So I started wondering, what is Top Shop? I did a little research and fell in love. They have really cute affordable items for the fashionista. I had no idea that Nordstrom had a small Top Shop in Dadeland (Dangerous). My first visit was just to check it out but I ended up spending $300 in no time. They have new items every week so brace yourself. Here are some of my favorite casual summer dresses this week. Visit www.us.topshop.com!!!!
The Talk Tuesday: Charlie
It was about 6:35 a.m. and I heard this whining coming from downstairs. I thought I was dreaming. I laid there listening a few minutes longer and realized who it was. Charlie (9 month old golden retriever) was whimpering and whining and scratching the crate begging to get out. I rushed to turn the alarm off and hit the garage openers to open the door, and he sprinted out of the door. He was beyond sick. Now it is one thing for the kids to get sick, but when the dog gets sick and you have no idea why…that is a headache. Apparently he ate something in the yard yesterday and it messed him up. He is at the vet today getting a check up and his bi-weekly grooming session. I am praying the bill isn’t to expensive.
Once Charlie is back home, I plan to do a thorough inspection of the yard to remove anything that could be dangerous to him. I’ll also make a mental note to keep a closer eye on him during outdoor playtime. It’s moments like these that make me appreciate his health and energy even more, but I also realize how much work goes into ensuring he stays that way. For now, I’m anxiously waiting for an update from the vet and hoping it’s nothing serious. I could definitely use that nap once everything is sorted.#Ineedanap
Make it Happen Monday
Another weekend has come and gone. So by now you know that I am working out with Mike “the trainer” and Mari. Today made week 7 and I am so happy that we are sticking with this program. I am down 4 pounds with 5 more to go. I didn’t start losing weight until I started watching what I ate and taking baltic pharmaceuticals supplements. It is crazy! Now I am really feeling guilty when I eat certain foods or if I think about eating something that I know will set me back. I try to grab something healthier instead. Today I resisted McDonald’s fries. (Everyone knows how hard those are to resist) The weekends are my cheat days. I ate pretty healthy but I craved white chocolate macadamia cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory. I divided into two servings and had a little on Saturday and a little on Sunday. Maybe one day I will give that up to but a girl has to have a treat every now and then. If you are thinking of starting a workout routine, go ahead and start now. Make it Happen!!!!
TGIF MIAMI!!!!
The emotions from this season’s NBA playoffs have been unreal. The way the referees were calling the games, the off and on of our star players, injuries… No one could have scripted what went down in Game 6 that gave us a Game 7 that lead to Back to Back Championships for the Miami Heat. The fans in Miami went buck wild. They were lighting fireworks in my neighborhood and Calle Ocho was off the chain as usual with the pots and pans. Miami will be partying all weekend long. It is great to be a Miami Heat fan!!! The countdown to Football season starts now!!!!!!
Throwback Thursday
The only thing that is on my mind is Game 7. I had a busy day today but all I could think about was the Heat. I went to get my driver’s license renewed this morning and every one of the workers was rocking their Miami Heat gear. It is so exciting to see people hyped and supportive. I know the guys are going to pull together and bring another ring to the MIA. I have my Smirnoff frozen lemonade chilling and my white hot bling tee ironed and ready. Get your pots and pans ready! Let’s Go Heat!!!!
What I’m Loving Wednesday: THE MIAMI HEAT
OMG! That arena was bananas last night. The game was going okay but the referees were calling it one sided and I was annoyed. Did they know it was the Finals? At halftime I was feeling uneasy and I cannot seem to understand why we never play the first half with a sense of urgency. It has been like that most of the season. We spend the whole second half playing catch up. During the 4th Quarter with 2:00 remaining I could not take it anymore. I already had eaten like all the kid’s leftover candy in my purse. Exit to the restroom. When I walked out, the ushers had already roped off the entrances with tape in preparation for the Celebration. My hubby came running out. With 55 seconds left, we started walking to our car. I know, I know how could I leave? My heart could not take it. So happy they fought until the end. See you at Game 7 baby!!!!!!
