I cannot believe we are half through May. As you may or may not know, I am the current Chapter Officer at the SFL Mom Bloggers. SFL Mom Bloggers is part of the Blogger Union network. I am so excited for our upcoming event on this Saturday, May 21st from 11-1. We can’t wait to celebrate all of our moms at our May meetup. Enjoy networking, delicious refreshments, lite bites, plenty of photo opps and an amazing panel of boss moms at the Doral Yard!

Nasima Moody is the owner of her own local State Farm branch. This mom panel will be moderated by Sharonda Stewart, SFL Mom Bloggers Chapter Officer, lifestyle blogger and momprenuer.

South Florida Mom Bloggers Meetup

If you guys have been following along then you know that I am the new Chapter Officer of the South Florida Mom Bloggers. This is a role that I do not take likely. I have always loved inspiring, connecting and working with other moms. That is part of the mission of Sporty Mommas so when this role was presented to me it was a natural fit. After months of anticipation we were finally able to reconnect.

The September South Florida Mom Bloggers meetup was a huge success and I could not have been more pleased or inspired from the event. Whenever you plan an event you have a vision of how you want it to be. However, you never really know what is going to happen. This event was perfect from the venue, beautifully curated charcuterie boards, cocktails and the amazing women who came out. Shannon Allen, owner of Grown Miami, really laid out the perfect brunch for us.

Working with brands in 2021 was our topic and boy was it a good one. Jasmine from (@Adventuresoflawyermom) and Joceline from (@araadstory) along with myself discussed the process of working with brands, building your network, collaborating and goal setting. It was a great afternoon full of inspiration and laughter. Stay tuned for our next meetup that is scheduled for October 16th.

Our event was captured by my favorite photographer and friend Priscilla Gomez from @purezealphotography. She did an amazing job catching every detail and the contagious energy that filled the air. It was so much fun and set the tone for an amazing rest of the year. Priscilla is available for all types of photoshoots from wedding, maternity, holidays to influencer branding.

Turn Lemons into Lemonade!

The vision board party was planned a while back. Last year we did one for Femfessionals and it was a no brainer to do one in 2016. As President of a networking group and have my own stuff between Sporty Mommas and the 3 Stews, my plate is FULL! I booked a speaker a month ago for the luncheon because I wanted to step it up a little from last year. We had a phone conference on the 5th of January and everything was a go. Then on the 11th (3 days before the event), I got a message saying that they were unable to speak. WTH? Flyers have been circulating for 3 weeks. Arrangements were made. The guest list was growing and no speaker.  Yeah!

After discussing it with my hubby, he said, “why don’t you just do it”? I said “yeah, you are right”. So today I stepped out of my comfort zone and led my first vision board workshop. It wasn’t scripted. I just spoke from my heart and kept it short and simple. The lesson learned from all of this, don’t get upset over stuff that you really have no control over. Take a leap of faith and keep it moving! Yes, I could have cancelled or called and complained  to the speaker but I just let things go the way they were supposed to go. Everything happens for a reason and I look forward to perfecting my vision board workshop for the next one!
