January MOM: Stacy Boegem

Filed under: Sporty Momma of the Month · January 7, 2015

Stacy Boegem, JD is fondly known as the Action Instigator and Mompreneur Mentor, as well as the President of Femfessionals Fort Lauderdale. With her remarkable ability to cultivate community and inspire action, Stacy leads modern women to get out of their own way and take action in their business and lives through private coaching, her signature Clarity + Action Mastermind series, and through speaking to audiences large and small.

Stacy has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Women’s E-News, the CW’s Inside South Florida, and others. She has been selected to keynote the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Business Woman of the Year luncheon, Tulane University’s Women’s Leadership Conference, and is excited to be kicking of her own large scale live event on January 30 in Fort Lauderdale, Connect Relate Activate LIVE!

Q. How has motherhood changed your life?

Becoming a mother is what led me to do the work I do now. To use my unique strengths and talents to be of service in the world in a way that is so rewarding.Without motherhood, I’d probably still be practicing law! Instead, I get to coach women and spread the gospel of Work/Life synergy far and wide, leading the charge of modern mompreneurs to design their businesses and lives with their own happiness at the top of the agenda. Because happy moms create happy families!

Q. Who was the most influential person in your life growing up?

At the risk of sounding cliche, it is certainly my own mom. From her incredible work ethic, to her resilience, to her remarkable ability to reinvent herself (she had an illustrious career as an attorney in New Orleans, built a renowned B&B and ran it for many years, and became a successful headhunter for lawyers now with her own firm) she has always done it all without us ever feeling neglected or unheard. In other words, while she has always worked full-time, she’s always also been a full-time mom.

If I am doing half as well as she’s done, I’m doing just fine.

Q. Twenty years ago, did you ever see yourself becoming an entrepreneur?

While I’m a big believer is setting goals and having a big vision in life, I can honestly say that I’ve never been one to plan 20 years out. I truly had no idea 20 years ago what I’d be up to these days! And I have no idea what I’ll be up to 20 years from now!

Q. How do you juggle being a wife, mommy, the Ft. Lauderdale President of Femfessionals and running a successful coaching business?

The only way I know how: to be very disciplined with my time; avoid multi-taking at all costs, outsource the stuff that’s outside my zone of genius as much as I can, and practice mindfulness. That said, I do recognize that I’m doing too much, and 2015 for me is a lot about streamlining!

Q. What can we expect from CRA Live this January?

My intention with CRA LIVE is for each person to walk away with CLARITY as to their own best next steps to achieve their business and life goals – inspired to take action. But rather than a fleeting feeling of being motivated, attendees will leave with practical know-how so they can manage their own limiting beliefs and negative self-talk that so often get in the way of personal progress.

Each speaker is dynamic, entertaining, and authentic, and has so much to offer our audience. And I’m particularly excited to share my own coach, the woman who has been behind me cheering me on since before I even knew what a coach was – Lois Barth. Lois is a nationally recognized speaker and is coming in from NYC to take the stage – to give our audience a good helping of what I’m so fortunate to get every time we have a session. She is not to be missed!

Attendees will make great new connections, learn about their own unique personality advantages and how best to leverage them, and have the tools to turn their new insights into action!

More info on CRA LIVE at www.CRALiveEvent.com

Q. What advice do you have for other Sporty Mommas that may be thinking of starting their own business?

Start. Take that first step. Don’t wait for perfect conditions, because they will never come. Believe in yourself. Invest in yourself. Surround yourself with others moms who have started businesses and learn from them.

When you have ideas, write them down. When you’re overwhelmed, break down the project into small pieces. And when you have successes, even very little ones, celebrate them!

And remember, just because someone else did it one way doesn’t mean that’s the only way. Be true to yourself, and check in with your own inner guide along the journey. Trust your intuition.

To stay on track moving forward with support and accountability, consider working with a coach. The amount you progress you will make in such a short time will blow your mind.

Most of all, CONNECT with amazing people, RELATE to your prospects and customers, and ACTIVATE your ideas, your plans, your projects by getting out of your own way and taking action.

That’s what Connect Relate Activate LIVE is all about!

March MOM: Nicole Vascianna

Filed under: Sporty Momma of the Month · March 12, 2014

Nicole Vascianna is the proud momma  of London (age 4). She is a Registered Nurse, Certified Lactation Educator Counselor and birth doula. In late 2013, she  created The Village Maternity Services  as a means of supporting women through pregnancy and childbirth. With derived experience as mothers and health care professionals, they strive to deliver holistic supportive services; antepartum through infancy in a fun and up-beat atmosphere.

Q. Who was most influential person in your life growing up?

I must say. In my younger days my mom and her sister. I would witness these women scout areas to buy homes fix them and then turn profits by becoming landlords. In her hay days she was managing 5 properties all while working a full-time job as a nurse. I watched my parents then have the ability to be financial pillars of their church and community being able to give whenever the need would arise. Later in high school I was exposed to other types of entrepreneurs. My friend’s parent’s owned firms, real estate companies, and food distribution companies. It was at this time that I knew I need financial independence and the only way to achieve it would be through entrepreneurship.

 Q. What inspired you to create The Village Maternity Services?

I was inspired to create The Village Maternity Services by my own prenatal and delivery experience. I’ve come to realize that women do not have options in birth in Miami. They’re not empowered or informed about birth and labor. I created The Village as means to support women and families and provide information. I want women to take their bodies, pregnancy, and birth back. I want women to know they do have choices and to realize what this culture views as “normal” childbirth is far from that.

 Q. What services and products do you offer?

We currently offer prenatal yoga, breastfeeding classes, infant massage and lactation consultations.

 Q. How do you balance motherhood and running a business?

It’s not balanced right now. I do my best. I make a conscious effort to set aside time for my son, time for myself, and time for my partner; but my life is not balanced. I would not dare try and fool you. I also think our view on balance is skewed. I don’t believe every day, week, month, or year of your life will be lived in complete balance. It’s a work in progress and we should be intuitive. If things start to shift a little to far left, be mindful that you need to pull back right. But now that I’ve created this new “baby” and we are in our infancy stage, my attention has shifted some to deal with all the demands that this new baby has created.; just like any child other child that needs your full attention, support, protection, and nourishment. So for a while my life will be unbalanced. But that’s OK because it’s a temporary state.

 Q. What do you love the most about being a doula?

I love being able to support a fellow sister. On this journey I get to witness a child being born, a family being born, and a mother being born. It’s rewarding, exhilarating and I feel blessed to be able to serve in this capacity.

January MOM: Maybi Iglesias

Filed under: Sporty Momma of the Month · January 7, 2014

Maybi Iglesias was born in Cuba in 1977. She arrived in Miami at just two and a half years old.  She is happily married and the proud mother of two beautiful kids. Maybi is the Owner and founder of Sprinkles Magazine, Royalty Bebe Magazine, Baby Tots Den and Sprinkles Media.  She currently resides in Pinecrest Florida.

Q. Who influenced you the most growing up?

My mother did!  She was a very hard worker and she always taught me how to save for the “not so good days.”  She also taught us never to say what we have or don’t have.

Q. How long have you been a mompreneur?

I’ve been a mompreneur for over eleven years!

Q. What inspired you to create your own magazine?

After I had my second child, I took a break from another business.  After about a year or so I started thinking about what to do next and since I’ve always wanted to do something in publishing, why not an amazing parenting magazine!

Q. How long did it take for you to really feel successful?

Well, to be honest, I always feel successful at what I do!  I put my heart and soul in whatever it is that I am doing and make it a point and a goal to take it to the next level.

Q. What do you love the most about running your own business?

I can say what I love the most is still having the time to be with my kids as much as I want to be with them and participating in all their activities.  I look forward to picking them up from school everyday!

Q.  How do you balance being a wife, mother,  and entrepreneur?

I wake up very early in order to have my coffee in complete silence and answer emails without being interrupted.  Being a wife is the easiest thing for me.  My husband is a family guy.  He is as much involved with the kids as me so we always have each other’s back.  We make time for date night and we enjoy going out with our friends.  Sometimes it will be a few weeks before we take a night off, and we’re both ok with that.  We pretty much know when we need a break and just take off!

Q. What advice do you have for a busy mom who wants to own her own business one day?

I say “GO FOR IT!”  You may need to take a pay-cut but the time you have for your kids, husband and family and just being your own boss is Priceless!

One of my favorite fashion hacks is buying matching sets! You can always mix and match the pieces or add a blazer or jean jacket! Most of the time I just rock the set with a nice bag! Do you like matching sets?

Two months ago I decided that I wanted a change. I was tired of how my clothes were fitting and I just didn’t feel good about myself. So I knew it was time to try something different. I decided to invest in my health and wellness. As moms we do so much for everyone else but we don’t always do the same for ourselves. I’m so close to my goal of losing ten pounds (like a pound away 😂) and I’m so proud that I stuck with it!

Here is your sign to invest in YOU and not feel guilty about it! Whether it’s a personal trainer, life coach, therapist or meal plan do whatever you need to do to be your best self!!!
