TGIF: Throwing the perfect party

It is officially football season and we are so excited. Please enjoy this guest blog post by Cemone Glinton owner of Out of Box Events. Have a fabulous weekend!!!!!

Six Steps to Having a Successful Football Party

It’s football season and with all of the excitement and buzz around the games, it won’t be too long before the thought pops into your head that says, “Let’s have a football party!”! As you smile at your subconscious, instantly you frown- A football party? Where do I start? How many people? I don’t want to cook for all of those people, and let’s not forget – the clean up… Who’s going to do that? As quickly as the idea popped into your head, you try to forget it and continue drinking your latte.

Here at “Out of Box” no challenge is too great, and we’ve simplified the process into six steps for you to have a successful football party.

1. Decide on a Budget – Decide on what is most important to you: decorations, specialty beers, having a catered party or all of the above.

2. Create a Guest List– Invite a few extra friends over, just in case a few people cancel.

3. Decide on your Decorations (this is the fun part) – There are so many options and themes, they’re… endless! For example, have fun with your tables and menus. Create– a color scheme based on the teams that are playing or your favorite team.

4. Menu Selection – Is anyone a vegetarian, is there anyone allergic to nuts – etc? Does everyone drink beer? Having, a few bottles of wine or cocktails available would allow for good alternative options for the few that may want something else.

5. Designated Drivers – With everyone having a great time, it’s important that safety is always remembered. – A suggested tip is to have a cappuccino, espresso or coffee station for your guests as the party begins to wind down. Keep an eye on those that may have had one too many, and if possible, make space on the couch for overnighters.

6. Plan a Half–Time Activity: Plan a short activity for your guests .Fun games such as, super bowl trivia, darts, or touch football usually win the crowd over.
There’s nothing like a great party with a central theme – In this case football. With all of the game excitement and friendly competition, it’s great to share these moments and joys of this football season with friends and family members. Happy Planning!

Relax, Reflect, Rejuvenate

Our trip was FABULOUS, FUN, and UNFORGETTABLE! So if you have been following the blog, you know all about this much needed vacation for my hubby and I. It has been over 7 years since we took a vacation without the kids. I was a little nervous about leaving them at first but once I arrived on the island a sense of peace came over me. We traveled to Sandals Grand Antigua for three nights and four days. The island is beautiful but the people there are even more beautiful. From the time we arrived they took care of our every need. I booked the Grand Amalfi Penthouse Suite with Butler service and it was worth every penny. The view was unreal. The service exceptional and the food left you wanting more. Our friends got married on Tuesday and the ceremony was touching. I always love weddings but this one was intimate and very special. The pastor reminded us of the meaning of love and to never give up on one another. Life throws us all kinds of curve balls but it is how we catch them that counts. I hope you enjoy these pictures from our vacation. I will be adding a few every day.

Blessings and Love,

TGIF: Antigua Bound

It’s the weekend baby! Not just any weekend, it’s Labor Day weekend! I am beyond excited for this trip. I am a little nervous about leaving my babies, but I know they will be fine. Nobody loves them more than their Grandmas. I had a busy day last minute shopping and driving the kids around all day. I actually put a half a tank of gas in my truck this morning and it is like gone.I got my nails done, hair did, and swimsuits ready! I hope you all have a safe Labor Day weekend. I can’t wait to share my pictures with you guys.

XO,

Thankful Thursday

Yesterday we attended Open House at the elementary school. This year it was a little different because both classes met at the same time. I took the gifted session and my hubby went to Kindergarten. I loved how all of the classrooms were decorated and welcoming. Most of the rooms have smart boards and computer stations with custom mouse pads from www.custommousepad.com this year. After listening to the teacher for 30 minutes I realized kids have it so much harder these days. The expectations and preparation for these exams is crazy now days. I do not miss teaching or being a student right about now. I am grateful for two great teachers that truly enjoy their jobs. Hats off to all of the wonderful teachers out there. I know it is not easy.

The best part of the night was going out to dinner afterwards. I figured since we had to pay the babysitter, we might as well have a good time. We went to this new restaurant called SIP in South Miami. The food and atmosphere was amazing. They have sushi, tapas, steak, seafood and any drink you can imagine. There is literally something for everyone. Wednesdays is Ladies Night so, Sangria was on the house. If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend checking out SIP.

What I’m Loving Wednesday: PINK

With our Labor Day vacation literally days away, I have officially started packing my bags. I am trying my best not to over pack but I am a pack rat! Yesterday, I had to take a trip to the Village of Merrick Park in search of a rolling backpack for my seven year old. I never thought I would spend over $100 on a book bag. OMG! Of course, when you go to Merrick Park you have to shop. I found some really cute leggings from BEBE and got a few treats from Victoria’s Secret. I usually do not buy bath products from VS but the sales lady told me they were on sale. You know us shopaholics love the word SALE! I fell in love with the Pink collection’s Warm & Cozy. It has a fabulous scent and the luminous body butter is not only rich but it leaves sparkles all over your body. Love it! Next time you are in Victoria’s Secret, try it!

It’s T-Shirt Tuesday

How many of you busy mommas struggle with finding things to wear? I know I have my days. So I am going to start a T-shirt Tuesday weekly blog post. Today’s tee comes from the Sporty Momma’s Boutique. It is the Football Mom bling tee. This tee is perfect for little league games or even Sunday afternoon football games with the hubby. The great thing about this item is it can be customized with your child’s name and jersey number. The Football Mom tee comes in v-neck, tank or round neck. This tee is a hit. Sporty Mommas from Miami to Atlanta are rocking this! Visit Sportymommas.com today or send inquiries to info@sportymommas.com!

Move it Monday

I have a confession. I use to think that weight training made you bulky or look manly. I guess it can if you get carried away. I have been weight training for over three months now and it is transforming my body back to 10 years ago. Ok with the exception of stretch marks and DDD’s. Lol, I feel so much better and I am loving the results. I am here to say if you need to lose 10 pounds try weight training with a partner. I know that is what made my journey easier and so much fun. It’s Monday, get moving, there is no better time to start transforming YOU! Off to get my workout on!

We officially survived the first week of school. I don’t know who had it worse, the parents or the teachers? Today I dropped my son off and another kindergartner was crying the entire time I was in the classroom. My son said she cried all day. I felt so bad for the teacher. One thing that drives me up a wall is crying.

On another note, it’s the weekend baby! I am looking forward to sleeping past 7 a.m. and not being the driver. I am really excited to participate in the Elevate Women’s Summit on Saturday. I discovered this gorgeous drink on Pinterest. There is this cool site where you enter the name of the drink and the recipe appears. Check it out. Cheers to a fabulous weekend! www.drinksmixer.com

I am not going to lie, this first week back to school has worn me out! On Wednesday I was already asking, “Is it Friday yet”? The drop offs, pick ups, homework, getting up early….I can go on and on. All I can say is I was not ready for summer to end. I am thankful for making it this far and not pulling my weave out in the pick up line. No, I have a lot to be thankful for. All three of our kids have great teachers. I am blessed to have a hubby that has been rolling with me 80% of the time this week. I am also thankful that the weekend is almost here. Take a few minutes to give thanks today!!!

This was the first Thanksgiving in 6 years that we didn’t host at our home. We headed to West Palm Beach to see my family and we had a blast!! It is always so nice to see how much all of the kids have grown. We even had the chance to spend time with my 96 year old grandmother who is still just as sporty and independent as ever!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

As a woman in her late forties I know how important gut health is. I have had my share of digestive issues and adding Bioma to my daily routine has been a game changer for me.

Bioma is the first of its kind …. it is a blend of prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics. It helps improve digestive health, supports weight loss, can help relieve menopause symptoms.  It can also help increase energy levels.
